So glad there is a board with others to empathize. A little background...
I contracted Psoriasis during Desert Storm in 1990 from CARC and depleted uranium and was sick with a 103.4 degree temperature for two weeks. I was hospitalized and flown to Weisbaden, Germany for observation. My military medical record concludes with "...probable bacterial syndrome". Needless to say, I've had an open case with the VA for over 25 years and have been denied service connection five times.
With that stated, I've felt my "Psoriasis" has been misdiagnosed and unique. The reason is due to all the "successful" therapies and medications I've taken over three decades ranging from: natural therapies, Otezla, Stelara, Humira, Enbrel, Corticosteroids and various light therapies. None have been successful and have resulted in unique side effects (e.g. psoriatic "doughnuts" on my skin, extreme behavioral changes, etc.). My "coverage" has ranged from 20% to 90% and is asymmetric.

My name is liezel, i live in cape town, South Africa.I have just been diagnosed with psoriasis. Honestly I don't even know what kind I have. The dermatologist I'm seeing is treating me with creams that i honestly feel is not working. I'm mostly covered in hot red spots on my legs and thighs.. I'm currently suffering from intense burning that is non stop. I'm feeling extremely overwhelmed at the moment as there is a world of information out there and I honestly don't know where to begin. Ashwicks asks about First cosentyx treatment side effects Hi there,
Hello everyone,
I’m new to this forum, but I had a question that I couldn’t find anywhere else on the internet. Last Wednesday I started my 1st injections of Cosentyx. Other than feeling tiredness, I haven’t had any side effects...until today. I was sitting down not doing anything and all of a sudden a feeling of passing out came over me. I laid down and the feeling lingered about 20 mins on and off

It is clear that one of the causes of Psoriasis is a genetic dependency of one of your ancestors and that in that cases it is very wel possible that siblings or other family also can have Psoriasis (or Psoriatic Arthritis of course), be it brothers or sisters, or nephews, nieces and cousins.
But... it is a bit unclear if this is the only cause. Or that there would always be a genetic component necessary for getting Psoriasis.
As Fred always says: “Anyone can get Psoriasis.”, and I myself think that there are more causes, at least bacteriological causes, that make it possible that you will get Psoriasis at a certain moment in time.
I wonder how this is with the members of Psoriasisclub. Do you have ancestors or siblings or perhaps children who also have Psoriasis? Or do you think there is no genetic cause involved in your Psoriasis?
Therefore I made a poll, where you can tick one or more possible relations or no relation at all.

Hello, <
How is this accomplished? Does stress really have a significantly negative impact on Psoriasis?

French guidelines for treating psoriasis
These guidelines were developed by the psoriasis research group of the French Society of Dermatology with the aim of providing updated decision‐making algorithms for the systemic treatment of adult patients with moderate‐to‐severe psoriasis.
The initial working group was made up of three dermatologists, without any conflict of interest with the pharmaceutical industry. The first version of the manuscript was reviewed by nine dermatologists, all of whom were experts in the field of psoriasis management. The final document was then reviewed by public and private practice practitioners involved in psoriasis treatment. Thirty four practitioners and two patients were also involved.
The guidelines recommend that systemic therapy, including phototherapy, should be proposed to patients with any form of psoriasis meeting one of the following criteria:
The disease is considered to be moderate‐to‐severe, defined as psoriasis covering over 10% of the body surface area (BSA), or resulting in a psoriasis area severity index (PASI) score >10 and/or a dermatology life quality index (DLQI) score >10;
The disease has a significant impact on physical and social well‐being, or on psychological well‐being resulting in disease‐related clinically relevant depression or anxiety;
The disease is localized but cannot be controlled with topical therapy and is associated with significant functional impairment and/or high levels of distress, e.g. severe nail disease or involvement at high‐impact sites (such as the palms and soles, genitals, scalp, face and flexures). Last week I received a letter through the post inviting me to help rid the world of Psoriasis. Now as far as I am concerned this lot are a bunch of charlatans and no way would I end up in their clutches. How they got my details and the fact that I have psoriasis isn't something I want to discuss on an open forum.
But it got me thinking what would it take for you to join a trial

One Meat Ball: No I haven't gone into competition with John, this isn't a recipe. Instead it's all about a song that you may not of heard called "One Meat Ball" It's a great little song and it tells the story of a Man with very little money in need of some food. He walks into a restaurant and asks what he could get for fifteen cents, the waiter then mocks him and starts shouting out that this man wants one meatball. The Man felt so uncomfortable but he needed his food so he sat down and asked for some bread with his one meatball. The waiter replies in a loud voice You get no bread with one meatball
The song is a classic blusey number from the 1940s but it originated from an 1855 song titled "The Lone Fish Ball" written by American scholar George Martin Lane, apparently based on his experience in a restaurant after being embarrassed by a disdainful waiter. The song got revived in 1944 by Tin Pan Alley songwriters Hy Zaret and Lou Singe and was recorded by Josh White in it's current blues form that we know today.
It's a great song and has been covered by many artists The Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby, Lonnie Donegan and Ry Cooder to name just a few. My favourite is by Calvin Russell, but there are many great versions to be found so go and do a little digging around for "One Meatball"

3 Points: Both bands were merged together in 2010 and they tour around 200 days a year.
2 points: Having a big band sound but sticking to their musical roots of blues, jazz, and gospel their tours sell out quickly.
1 point: Their 4th studio album "Signs" was released on February 15 2019 and though worth a listen I still prefer their live albums.
*I had knocked this up before the official album release but band member Kofi Burbridge died the same day the album was released. I did think of changing the quiz for this month out of respect but decided to keep it in as music lives on.
Rest In Peace Kofi.

Recipe Spot
Turkey Keema with peas
Rustle up the following
1 Teaspoon of oil
1 Onion finely chopped
2 Garlic cloves finely chopped
10g fresh root ginger grated finely
Bunch Coriander. Remove the leaves, chop the stems finely
1 Tablespoon curry powder
600g Turkey mince, thigh mince works best if you can get it.
1 Bay leaf
400g tin Chopped Tomatoes
200ml Coconut milk
250g Frozen Peas, Petit Pois are best
Sea Salt
Fresh ground Black Pepper
Warm up a large lidded frying and add the oil. Throw in the onions and cook over a high heat for a few minutes then chuck in the garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute. Don’t overcook the garlic or it will burn and taste bitter. A quick tip for your ginger. Keep it in the freezer, peel using a teaspoon to scrape the skin off as much as you need and grate from frozen. Whack it back in the freezer as soon as you have got as much as you need. It keeps for ages and is easier to process when frozen.
Pile in the mince and roughly break it up. You want to try and keep a decent texture to the mince. Dump in some of the Coriander leaves and all the stems (leaving a nice pile of leaves for garnish) and curry powder, turning slowly until the mince is browned off lightly. Pour in the tomatoes and coconut milk. Give it a good grind of pepper and salt to taste.
Bring the concoction up to the boil, cover and simmer over a medium heat for around 5 minutes. Add the peas now bringing back up to the boil. Remove the lid now and leave to simmer genly until the sauce has thickened say around ten minutes or so. Top off with the remaining Coriander and serve.
Served piled high on a plate with some lovely fragrant Basmati Rice and a warm buttered
Naan or Chapatis.
To accompany? Only a good cold Indian lager thing will do. Possibly a Cobra?
Now does anybody have a completely fool proof way of cooking Basmati? Whenever I do it, it always gives Thai sticky rice more than a run for its money. I have tried all sorts of different methods and each has failed dismally. I don’t have the same problem with long grain though.
Enjoy
Johnb

Top Tips for newly diagnosed psoriasis sufferers
If you have recently been diagnosed with Psoriasis or even if you have sufferered for years, members have been posting things they feel may help you cope, you can follow the link below to see more tips that members have posted
Applying Topicals: Always apply any topical in the direction of how your hair lies (the grain) it helps avoid more irritation to the skin. Also apply at least half an hour after moisturising for the best absorption..
Appointment support Take someone to your Dermatologist appointment. They seem to treat you a little differently and having another person allows two sides of the same point to be made. There is also the benefit of extra recall of the consultation.

The magpies were chattering madly
In the garden they spotted a cat
They made such a racket
The cat couldn’t hack it
And he shot from the spot where he sat

OneBigItch has written "Goodbye Fumaderm hello Skilarence"
I went to the derm yesterday and after checking my baseline bloods they said I was good to go on them. No numbers were mentioned about my bloods apart from that I have higher than normal haemoglobin levels.
So, tonight I will take my first tablet and I'll pray that I have an identical reaction as I did to Fumaderm, as I only had flushing and nothing else and managed to get 100% clearance on just one full strength tablet a day.
