Platelets are in normal range but psoriasis it out of control. Humira stopped working after year and........

Just wanted to pop by and say 'Hi' to all fellow sufferers lurking here.
I only found this group today. I've not been one to join groups regarding my skin condition, but thought I might just as well.
I've had Psoriasis for many years now. Always had dry skin even as a teenager, with mild eczema to start with. The Psoriasis kicked in with childbirth, just one weird spot on the leg to start with, which grew and spread and got worse and worse as time went on.

Gender and age significantly determine needs in psoriasis treatments This study suggests Women showed higher expectations and rated specific needs in psoriasis treatment higher than men.
Read more Here This study compared Calcipotriol/betamethasone dipropionate (Cal/BD) [0.005%/0.05%] aerosol foam (*no mention of Enstilar by name but that would be my guess) against Otezla (apremilast), Methotrexate, Acitretin, and Fumaric Acid Esters (FAE)
The Background:
Plaque psoriasis has significant impact on patients’ quality of life. Topical therapy is considered the treatment mainstay for mild‐to‐moderate disease according to guidelines. Calcipotriol/betamethasone dipropionate (Cal/BD) [0.005%/0.05%] aerosol foam is indicated for psoriasis vulgaris treatment in adults. Cal/BD foam trials demonstrated improved efficacy and similar safety in this population. Psoriasis treatment is complicated by the broad range of disease presentation, variability, and therapeutic options; particularly decisions on transition from topical to non‐biologic systemic treatment are difficult. Assessing comparative effectiveness of treatment options provides meaningful value to treatment decisions.

Fred's Music Column.
100 Years: As I was thinking about what to put in this months newsletter for my music column I like most of you got a little caught up in the 100 years since the end of WW1 on November 11. It got me thinking about not only how lucky we are today to be able to listen to music, but my mind also went off wondering about what people would listen to in 1918.
There were no charts as such as we know them today, and not many could afford a radio or record player at home. Those people still out there in the trenches from all sides I doubt would have much interest let alone time to listen to music. There are reports of both sides singing Christmas carols to each other across no man's land, but I'm sure music was far from their minds at this time of year 100 years ago. We are so lucky today that we can listen to the music we like and that the artists we listen to can give their point of view in their music. So in my column this month I say thank you to those people 100 years ago for letting us listen to music today.
So what would we have been listening to over 100 years ago whilst our loved ones were at war? How about "Keep the Home Fires Burning" | "Gustav Holst's The Planets" | "Pack Up Your Troubles" | "Over There" | "Noël des enfants " | "Tiger Rag" | (and my favourite) "Everybody's Crazy 'Bout the Doggone Blues (But I'm Happy)"

Recipe Spot
Baked Mushrooms (starter and snack)
What Christmas already? Where did that come from? All I can say its a good Job Fred ‘banned’ unsecure clips otherwise we would be well and truly inundated by Grizzlys sparkly things by now!!!
So this month its not so much of a recipe but it has become our Christmas Dinner starter of choice and as I’m in such a giving mood this is a two for one recipe. Sorry Jim you are going to hate this one.
Baked Mushrooms
So I use two large Field / Portobello mushrooms per person in both cases.
Start by crushing as many cloves of garlic as you can tolerate (I use three decent cloves to four mushrooms) into a large lump of room temperature salted butter and mash it all together. I reckon a decent heaped tablespoon per mushroom is not far off. You could use more if your arteries can cope.
Wipe any muck off your shrooms and hack the woody stalk out. Put a good glug of olive oil into a backing tray and place your mushrooms in gills up and pile in a good heap of the garlicky butter into each mushroom. Whack into a preheated oven 180º C / 350º F / gas mark 4 for 20 minutes.
So this is where the two for comes in. For the snack cook for another 5 minutes. In the meantime split a small bread roll, a ciabatta about the sizes of your hand is perfect. Slather the split faces with some Dijon mustard. Remove the mushrooms from the baking tray and mop up any juices with the split faces of the buns. Load your buns with a couple of mushrooms and enjoy.
So back to the starters. After your 20 minutes splash a good healthy slug of Port into your mushrooms and bake for a further 5 minutes or so. I now let them cool over night, so if you were following this on Christmas day, starters are going to be late!
Once cool plate up a couple of mushrooms into oven proof serving dishes and crumble a nice chunk of a strong blue cheese into each mushroom. Sprinkle with some bread crumbs and a good grind of pepper.
Reheat in the oven as you are cooking your meal until the cheese is nice and bubbling. Serve - but be aware – both the starter and the snack version are nuclear hot and will remove the roof of your mouth without any hesitation.
And so to serve with? Well if its the snack – nowt!! If you need a drink with a snack you need help!
For the Starters, errrrr its Christmas. It will go with whatever you have for the main course. I normally splash out on a nice Chablis.
Enjoy
Johnb

Top Tips for newly diagnosed psoriasis sufferers
If you have recently been diagnosed with Psoriasis or even if you have sufferered for years, members have been posting things they feel may help you cope, you can follow the link below to see more tips that members have posted
But here's a couple to start
Tell :
Tell your dermatologist all your problems not just about the skin, tell them how it affects your day to day life If you don't they will think you aren't bothered and possibly give you an inferior cheap treatment .
Get a referral l: Don't keep going to a General Practitioner (GP) who can only prescribe creams and ointments, if it's not clearing up ask for a referral to a dermatologist who has a full arsenal of treatments to help.

The Snowy Elf
Are you looking forward to Christmas?
Santa asked the elf
As the jolly little worker
Stacked toys upon the shelf
The elf was in a hurry
And he didn’t make reply
But as he went a flurry
Turned white the clear blue sky
Are you looking forward to Christmas?
Rudolph asked the cheerful chap
When the elf sat down beside him
Painting toys in his lap
But the elf was in a rush
And he didn’t say a word
His little cheeks were flushed
He was quiet as a bird
Aren’t you looking forward to Christmas?
I asked him, finally
Well, yes, said the elf
But I have psoriasis you see!
I make my own snow, especially when I hurry
Wherever I go there’s a wintry white flurry
I’m always festive, even in May -
For me it’s Christmas every day!

Onebigitch has come back and updated their Fumaderm side effects thread
Hi everyone, long time no speak. I thought I'd give you all an update on where I am with everything.
Following on from my last posts - after being told I had trace amounts of blood in my urine and having 're tests and an ultrasound, they didn't find a cause so left me. Thankfully my psoriasis was completely clear so the decision was made to stay off fumaderm and see what happens.
Well I managed to stay clear for almost a full year, but now I've got patches on my legs again and it's starting to appear on my arms and head. I've seen the doc and they are happy for me to start Skilarence when I feel l need to.
