Spot On asks .Will clearing Psoriasis make me feel better? I have a doc that has fast tracked me for Stelara, but I am hesitant because of the health risks. (Cancer etc.) I would also have to take the Twinrex hep A B vaccine which concerns me because of the mercury preservative.
My Psoriasis is on my elbows, knees, scalp, ears, back, sides and spots all over. One fingernail and toenail have it. The amount is not as bad as it sounds, but getting worse. I can keep it somewhat at bay with my 6 lamp NB UVB light unit.
So my question is: If my psoriasis clears, will I feel better? Is the clearing cosmetic or will there be actual physical benefits? I don't want to risk serious side effects for a cosmetic fix.
Read More Here Artemie has started her journey on Stelara Well, here we go. Two days ago was the first injection with Stelera. Starting this journal for myself and it would be awesome if it can help people make a choice in the future.
Before that, you name it: Tar (when I was but a child, can't remember much except the horror of having P)
UVB (3 treatments total, the last one, a nice doorpanel that I got to use at home, stopped working just as I was nearing the final top doses)
Vitamine D derivatives creams, sometimes mixed with steroids. But rarely. Helped a bit, never total clearance on either combination)
Psorinovo; dymethilfumerate, slow realise and enteric coated (failed on that after a brief interlude of not taking it. The second round it didn't work, upset intestines, and also in a period of a lot of stress, so... I dunno. Wish it still worked).........Read the rest here Lookingforhelp Has a dilemma Hi. I have had red spots on my penis for over a year now. I went to a primary care doctor who said it looked like psoriasis and recommended trying Lamisil and Hydrocortisone 1%. Neither of those had an effect and he referred me to a dermatologist.
The dermatologist also said it looks like psoriasis. He gave me hydrocortisone 2.5% ointment and triamcinolone ointment. I used those for a few months with not much help, although 5-10% of the area did clear. When I went back he said that I could continue using the ointment but it may take years and there wasn't much more he could do. I discontinued using the hydrocortisone 2.5% and triamcinolone. ? Anyone have any advice on what to do for someone in my situation?
Click here to Help Awesomeman is looking for advice about Cosentyx ...... Hi everyone, While I dont have Psoriasis I do suffer from another form of rheumatoid arthritis. So while our diseases are very different we do share a lot of the same medications. I really hope no one minds me posting as Im really just searching for some answers. For whatever reason I have had a difficult time finding some answers concerning my meds on other forums and just general searching. It does seem like the psoriasis community has a significant amount more of experience with these medications which has led me to post. Long story short I've now tried Humira and cosentyx.
Humira was somewhat effective however just left me with a sense of malaise that just made using that option not worth it. I am now on Cosentyx and while for the most part I feel so much better on it. However, I have this strange pressure sensation in both my thighs.............
Read the full story here Calamine lotion for psoriasis ...Fred wrote........I have recently had a bad flare-up on my shins and had got to the stage where it felt like someone had peeled my skin off and rubbed salt over it. I was also subconsciously scratching my legs to hell in my sleep, walking had also become difficult as every movement was splitting the skin on my shins so something had to be done and quick.
So I grabbed the bottle of Calamine Lotion that was lurking at the back of the medicine cabinet and dabbed a little on one small patch that was itching the worst. It was so nice and cool and I could feel it soothing almost instantly so I decided to leave it a few hours to see what would happen and I'm pleased to say nothing went wrong and it felt sooooooooooooooooooo nice.

New Introductions.
Please look at these introductions and come and welcome the new members that have taken the trouble to write an introduction. Hi my name is Connor, and I am suffereing from psoriasis for more than 10 years. I tried different treatment methods, but the last year I use only natural methods.
Right now I am pretty sure that all medical drugs cure only the symptoms, this is not bad, but I want to find the reason and eleminate it.
I am happy to join Psoriasis Club, as I am 100% sure that in discussions we can find proper strategy to treat proriasis.........Read more here Hello I'm Tilly ......and have had Psoriasis for about 40 years But this year i have psoriatic arthritis and having treatment now Would like to know if anyone has had IV injections straight into the vein of steroids as this is what the hospital is suggesting as the single injection was not strong enough So would appreciate from anyone who has had this Thanks

This is my first post here. I decided to join this forum to get in touch with other people who have psoriasis. I'm more concerned about some other non-skin related inflammatory effects of psoriasis, e.g. the link between psoriasis and diabetes, fatty liver, high cholesterol, etc. (what is also called the metabolic syndrome). I'm starting to have these symptoms (pre-diabetes and high cholesterol in my case although I'm only slightly overweight) and I believe they are connected with my psoriasis. I've had psoriasis since childhood (for about 35 years now) and I know its external effects are one problem but the other (and potentially much more serious) problem are the internal autoimmune effects of psoriasis. I even read recently (in a German medical journal) that the average lifespan of a person whose psoriasis was diagnosed during childhood is only 59 years which does sound pretty scary..... I know this isn't really natural, but that cream, (you know, the one with vitamin A and vitamin D in it?) well, it really works for me. We used it on our babies when they had diaper rash, and by golly it works for me too! Thank you for new ideas............Read More Here Maggie says Hello everyone! Could Bioelectronics help psoriasis ....Thync Global, which markets wearables that help users sleep better or relax, reported the first effective use of bioelectronics to treat psoriasis in a pilot study. The noninvasive therapy “significantly” reduced psoriasis symptoms and could fill a gap in psoriasis treatment.
The pilot study involved 28 patients; 18 were treated with Thync’s device, while the remaining 10 received a placebo device. The patients used the device 10 minutes a day for four weeks.
Read the rest of the thread here Do E cigarettes make psoriasis worse There has been a recent study looking at the effects of E-Cigarettes and the results are suggesting they could make psoriasis worse.
The enhanced NET formation in peripheral blood neutrophils from e-cigarette users also suggests the potential for systemic harm beyond the lung. Given that increased NET formation is closely associated with epithelial and endothelial cell death and subsequent pathogenesis, aberrant NET formation in peripheral blood neutrophils from e-cigarette users should be examined in the context of the pathogenesis of systemic diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis, and psoriasis.

Research suggests that sleep disturbance is common in psoriasis. While several sleep investigations have been conducted in psoriasis populations, many have methodological shortcomings, and no study has examined multiple dimensions of sleep–wake functioning. Moreover, research has yet to be performed comprehensively examining the range of physical and psychological factors that may affect sleep in people with psoriasis.
The objectives.....To characterize sleep disturbance using validated measures and to identify physical and psychological predictors of sleep quality in people with psoriasis.

Janssen Biotech, Inc., announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved SIMPONI ARIA® (golimumab), the only fully-human anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha therapy administered via a 30-minute infusion, for the treatment of adults with active psoriatic arthritis (PsA) or active ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Today’s approvals follow the first FDA approval of SIMPONI ARIA® in 2013 for the treatment of moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The PsA and AS approvals are supported by comprehensive clinical development programs that demonstrated the significant efficacy of SIMPONI ARIA® over placebo, while offering a consistent safety profile across all indications. In the study for the treatment of active PsA, patients experienced improvement in joint symptoms and inhibition of structural damage. In the study for treatment of active AS, results showed improvement in measures of disease activity.........Read More Here This is the results of a phase 111 study of Taltz v Stelara...

Research from the Universities of Dundee and Oxford has shown how combining the tetanus vaccine with a viral particle that normally affects cucumbers can be used to treat psoriasis and allergies, and may even protect against Alzheimer’s disease.
Scientists led by Dundee’s Dr John Foerster and Oxford’s Professor Martin Bachmann, were able to take the protein coat of cucumber mosaic virus and incorporate a tetanus vaccine-derived protein structure known to stimulate the immune system in order to create vaccines to treat multiple chronic diseases.
The vaccine showed positive results in models of psoriasis and cat allergy .........Read More Here Not on the psoriasis boards but worth putting on the forum in off topic
Scars may fade, but the skin remembers. New research from The Rockefeller University reveals that wounds or other harmful, inflammation-provoking experiences impart long-lasting memories to stem cells residing in the skin, teaching them to heal subsequent injuries faster.
These stem cells, which replenish the skin’s outer layer take their cue from inflammation, the body’s own response to injury or infection. The first bout of inflammation sensitizes these cells: the next time they sense it coming on, they respond more rapidly.
“By enhancing responsiveness to inflammation, these memories help the skin maintain its integrity, a feature that is beneficial in healing wounds after an injury,” says Fuchs, the Rebecca C. Lancefield Professor and Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator. “This memory may also have detrimental effects, however, such as contributing to the relapse of certain inflammatory disorders such as psoriasis.”

Grizzly Bear tells how to understand your pets
Here's a list of signs your cat actually loves you:
Unwanted gifts to us humans but to the cat...........
Not for the faint of heart, when your cat brings you their kill it is actually meant as a present….. even though it’s a present you won’t want to touch with your bare hands. Cats are natural hunters just like lions and tigers etc, so when they bring you these gifts they are trying to show you what they can offer you. (yuk) You must think of it as a love token, even if the sight of a dead bird/rodent makes you want to be sick.
Your kitty will flash you their tummy.........
Like most animals, cats do not show their stomachs to just anyone. If your cat rolls over on its back to give you a flash of their furry stomach, this is an indication that they feel comfortable around you. And not only this, but they feel loved and protected by you, rendering themselves defenceless while on their backs. Cats are prideful animals, so if they do this for you they have no concerns letting their guard down when in your presence.
Your cat has a thing for head butting you..........mine do ! lol
Although you would never think of this as a friendly gesture with a human, to receive a head butt from a cat is a pretty big deal. When your cat shares this special privilege with you, they are actually depositing facial pheromones (just like their 'grown up' cousins do in the wild) on to you. These serve to represent their feelings, and their possession towards you, as if they are leaving traces of their scent to claim you with....

Come and meet Jenna's Pets
Here Jenna introduces us to her pet family
For anyone who knows me for even a second knows that animals are everything to me. I'm currently in the early stages of having my own personal zoo (within reason, of course). I have three babies now: A bunny named Houdini, and two rats named Vermin and Plague. I love them more than anything in the whole world, and you guys are all friends to me now, so I was hoping I could share them with you.
The pets I have currently are not the most traditional, so I'm of course happy to answer any questions about them that anyone may have. I find them to be absolutely hilarious and wonderful, so I'd love to share some funny stories and shenanigans I have involving them. To start, here are my three little guys:
The top picture is Houdini . The light tan rat is Vermin and the black one is Plague. Aren't they the cutest? Read more Here If you would like your photos featured let me know and they will feature in a future newsletter

Each month I will add a tip or a helpful link to assist with your posts ...I know this was in last months newsletter but it is a question that constantly crops up
Adding your photos to your posts
Many of you have asked " How can I post my photos" I have to admit it took me a while to get the hang of it But if you follow one of the tutorials in the link below you should manage it, The club cannot have photos posted direct from your albums, they need hosting on a photo sharing site like "imgur" or "Flickr" the tutorials tell you how to do it from a PC or Tablet ........See here Should you need any help don't be afraid to ask and we can work through it until you get the idea
Should you get stuck ask a member of the forum team who are always pleased to offer assistance
I have been looking forward to this as I had manged to get a listen to a couple of tracks before it's release.
Unfortunatly I have to say I'm a little disapointed as the full album has not given me as much enjoyment as I thought it would. Don't get me wrong if you give the album a few lsitens it does grow on you if you are a fan of his voice. But some tracks needed more than a few listens and even then didn't realy give me that true Robert Plant force that I wanted.
I would list my top three on the album as:
Carry Fire
Bluebirds Over the Mountain
New World
Led Zeppelin it aint, but if you like Robert Plants voice I would give it a listen. It's a good album but not one of his best.
