Hello I'm Tilly  and have had Psoriasis for about 40 years  But this year i have psoriatic arthritis and having treatment now  Would like to know if anyone has had IV injections straight into the vein of steroids as this is what the hospital is  suggesting   as the single injection was not strong enough  So would appreciate from anyone who has had this  Thanks

Hello Tilly,

Welcome to psoriasisclub!

I don´t have experience with steroids through an IV, do you know the name of what they are giving you? Most systemic drugs do not work after one time, so I´m curious why the hospital want to switch treatments so fast.

Hello Tilly Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

I have no experience of steroid injections being used for psoriatic arthritis myself, hopefully another member will be able to help.

Regards.

Fred.

Good afternoon Tilly  Wave

Welcome to psoriasis club Thumb

I have not had the pleasure of having steroids injected into my veins, only Remicade (infliximab).

It was a horrible thing to have but it was good because my P vanished for a short time.

Ask any questions that you may have Tilly, ok ?

Enjoy yourself on here Wave

Hi Tilly, nice to meet you Wave

Sorry, no experience of the iv steroids, though I have been on prednisolone for my skin P for about 4 months. Felt pretty good, but weight gain almost unavoidable..

Hello Tilly,

Welcome to Psoriasis club.

I have no experience in this treatment. It sounds to me as a quite "direct" and "heavy" approach. I did not know that this approach was doable. But as GB has had it, apparently it worked, but also apparently not for long.

If you go for it, please let us know your results.

Wave

Hi Tilly , are the injections really for the P or the PsA does sound a bit drastic as you have only just started with the PsA so what are they talking about infusing. What was the single injection that was not strong enough.
Welcome to the forum and any question answered on here will be truthful in what they tell you as they are speaking from experience and Fred does not allow adverts or conmen with magic cures so you have a good look around and ask away the inmates are friendly .

Hi Tilly and Welcome to the club. Like the other responses I have not had Steroid injections but my Psoriatic arthritis is not very severe .....but like others wonder what they will infuse you with, I know it's a recognised treatment, but am surprised that they are doing it after just a year........but you will probably get a good short term benefit for the psoriasis

Hi All and thank you for your replies  As i said above i have had psoriasis for 40yrs but kept it under control really well only a small amount now  13 yrs ago i had psoriasis arthritis and really bad with it about i did get over it in the end and used NSADS to control it  But over the last 2 yrs i was anaemic and was bleeding inside but to cut it short the last 4 months had to stop all NSADS  so was taking nothing  so the psoriasis showed it's head again waited 5 weeks to see if it would go but is so severe pain had to go see the rheumatologist  at the hospital hands fingers so badly swollen and cant bend fingers  really painful  I  have been put onto Sulfasalazine  over the next 4 weeks starting with one tablet  increasing to 2 in the morning and 2 at night  as Nsads cant be taken also on co-codmol   The steroide injecktion was given in my bottom to help the swelling  but it has not worked  so it will be a course of steroid to help the swelling go down hopefully so to help my finger joints as they are badly swollen    When i see about having this i will let you all know as it may help someone in the future Night time is really bad as i cant even pull the bed sheet over me as i cant use my hands   Thank you all  Heart
