I live in California. I have moderate-severe psoriasis. It covers my legs, arms, head, my back and few nasty spots on my forehead and side of my face. I have tried lifestyle changes, I fixed some issues with my gut like Small Intestinal Bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and yeast issues. That didn't help. I have tried red light therapy in a tanning salon. And I have been doing Phototherapy. The problem has been I have Blonde hair and Blue eyes so very photosensitive. I can get to about 450 Lumens and then I burn.
I was desperate at one point when I had a bad reaction to the light therapy and I was up all night with pins and needles pain and itching out of my mind........

Imapsomum asks for an Alternative to Clobex Shampoo my son finds the Clobex Shampoo is to annoying to apply and it is thinning his already fine and very blond hair which makes the psoriasis easier for others to see. Any one tried any shampoos that are easy to apply and work for you? By easy to apply, I mean it works like an actual shampoo...you put it on, lather, let it sit for a few minutes and rinse off. His scalp is pretty bad

meee81 Asks........ Humira v Stelara? Hello
So I was put on Fumaderm last January. Sadly it has stopped working and my psoriasis has come back with a Boom!
As a result the doctor is going to put me on a biologic, either Humira or Stelara. I have been asked to choose as they don't favour one over the other.
I was just wondering if anyone could give me advice...

ZUDAIFU CREAM STOP USING IMMEDIATELY
The MHRA has been working to prevent the further sale of Zudaifu cream and advises anyone who has bought it online to stop using it immediately.
Zudaifu cream is not a licensed medicine and has been marketed in the UK as a “natural” Chinese herbal remedy for the treatment of a range of skin conditions, most commonly eczema, psoriasis and rosacea.
Our analysis of the product found the presence of the steroid clobetasol propionate. This is the active ingredient in Prescription-Only medicines used for the treatment of a range skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.

Eli Lilly announced today Taltz (ixekizumab) met the primary and all major secondary endpoints in the Phase 3b/4 SPIRIT-H2H study, which evaluated the efficacy and safety of Taltz versus Humira® (adalimumab) in patients with active psoriatic arthritis (PsA) who are biologic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD)-naive. The SPIRIT-H2H trial is the first completed large head-to-head (H2H) superiority study in active PsA. This open-label, randomized, controlled trial is the first and only H2H study that utilizes on-label dosing for both Taltz and Humira and includes concomitant conventional DMARDs.
At 24 weeks, patients treated with Taltz met the primary endpoint by demonstrating superiority in improving the signs and symptoms of active PsA compared to Humira as measured by the proportion of patients simultaneously achieving at least a 50-percent reduction in disease activity, as defined by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR50), as well as complete skin clearance as measured by the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI100). In addition, Taltz met the major secondary endpoints.

The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson today announced results from the ECLIPSE study demonstrating that TREMFYA® (guselkumab) was superior to Cosentyx® (secukinumab)* in treating adults with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis for the primary endpoint assessed at week 48. Data from the multi-center, randomized, double-blind head-to-head Phase 3 study demonstrated that 84.5 percent of patients treated with TREMFYA achieved at least 90 percent improvement in their baseline Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI) score at week 48, compared with 70.0 percent of patients treated with Cosentyx

Fred's Music Column.
Happy New Year: First off I want to wish you all a happy and healthy new year. I also want to say thank you to all those that have given me some feedback on my music column, it's nice to know someone is out there reading it. Sometimes when I think about what to put in my column I try to imagine that you are out there reading it. I have never been much of a writer or a user of good spelling and grammar but I do enjoy trying to come up with something for you each month.
So what about this year ? Well I usually make my music column up as I go along after a few glasses of Merlot. And I see no reason to change that as it works for me.
The members recommendations is going down well and gives you a varied mix of music so I will keep it going.
I will be keeping the quiz going as it keeps me amused for ages trying to think it up, but I may make some changes.
So watch this space and please do let me know if you have any feedback about my column.

Turkey con Chilli
BUURRPP! Oops ‘scuse me.
Well if like us your eyes are bigger than your belly, chances are you are going to have a substantial chunk of buzzard left after your Christmas meal. In our case, the leftovers are a ‘strategic opportunity’. As per last year with the Buzzard Soop, little gets wasted of our bird.
So for this years freezer filler I’m going to enlighten you to the delights of Turkey con Chilli.
So grab your best shoplifting jacket and raid the stores for the following;
Olive or Rape Oil
2 Red Onions
1 Carrot peeled and chopped roughly
1 Leek trimmed halved lengthways and sliced
1 fresh red chilli, de-vein, deseed and finely chop
1 fresh green chilli, de-vein, deseed and finely chop
1 red pepper deseeded and chop roughly
1 yellow pepper deseeded and chop roughly
A bunch of Coriander, strip the leaves and keep whole but chop the stalks finely
1 teaspoon of ground cumin
1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
1 heaped teaspoon of runny honey (how on Gods great earth do you heap a liquid?) oh this is optional
3 tablespoons white wine vinegar
about 600g of leftover turkey ripped into shreads, not too fine mind as it tends to break up more when cooking
3 x 400g tins of chopped tomatoes
1 x 400g tin of butter beans of chick peas (drained). Don’t bother rinsing a bit of the stuff the pulses live in while in the can doesn’t do any harm. Personally it will take both cans no trouble and pad it out more.
Juice of 2 limes.
Right down to business.
Stick 50p in the meter and wind your oven up to 180ºC/350ºF/Gas 4 and if you have one dig out a nice large casserole pan. Its better if you can start it on the hob then stick it into the oven in the same pan. Start warming a good slug of olive oil on a medium heat and throw in your onions, carrot, leek, peppers and chillies. You can check the heat of your chilli by nibbling on a small portion of the pointy end of the chilli. This is the coolest end and will give you an idea of how much chilli to throw in. We don’t use 2 full chillies it generally ends up being around half of each. Cook for about 5 minutes giving it a stir occasionally when you remember. Then add your coriander stalks, cumin and paprika with a good grind of pepper and some salt cooking for another 10 minutes – and don’t forget to stir! At this point you can add the honey and white wine vinegar if you are using it, it sort of adds a touch of je ne seis whatsit.
Shred your turkey, (oh and pleeese make sure there are no gristly bits on the meat – there's nothing worse than finding a bit of gristle on your chilli) add to the veggies off the heat and throw in the tomatoes and beans/peas. Give it a good stir and whack it in the oven for about 2 hours. Check it every so often and if it looks a bit too dry chuck some water in it. It shouldn’t be sloppy like a traditional chilli con carne when its finished.
If this is for the freezer, let it cool and portion up.
If its for now, and you are ready to serve squeeze over your limes and stir in the coriander leaves. Plate up with some rice and or soft tortillas with a dollop of the sour cream on the chilli portion. It goes well with a nice guacamole.
Well, beverage? Its got to be a really really cold Tecate or Sol with the obligatory lime wedge rammed in to the bottle neck. A couple of your favorite brand of Tequila Gold shooters wouldn’t go amiss either.
Provechito
Enjoy
Johnb

New Year message from Fred
Well here we go on our journey into the unknown once again. I have always looked at the new year as being a new start and a closure on the old one, yes I know it's just another day and I'm not into making resolutions but it works for me. So let's strap ourselves in and head off down the road to a nice shiny new year.
Let me get the Brexit thing out of the way first. As some of you know I'm a British expat living in France and I don't know where I will be after the end of March as my future status is still uncertain. But although it's caused a lot of problems in my private life, I'm pleased to say that even though we have spoken about it in the Off Topic section we have always managed to respect each other no matter our views are (Something I think the UK politicians should try). Anyway whatever the political uncertainty throws up between the UK and Europe we will always be friends here at Psoriasis Club.
2018 has been a hard year for some of our members, but it has been nice to see the support offered by others. Not only helping with psoriasis related issues but in some cases on the things we all go through in our daily lives. The members only boards never fail to surprise me and it's again been amazing seeing all the different things our members are getting up to around the world.
I'm sticking to my promise of keeping Psoriasis Club going till 2020 and the funding is already in place to secure that. It will be 10 years then that I will have been running Psoriasis Club and although I see no reason to stop, I do sometimes ask myself if it's what I want to be doing as I get older. I think this year I may start involving our members in helping me make a decision for 2020 so watch out for my thread in Off Topic.
Thank you again to all of our members that make Psoriasis Club what it is. It's you the real people and your honest support that makes us still the only truly independent psoriasis website. We have and always will be free from advertising, sponsors or request for donations.
May you and those around you have a happy and healthy 2019.
Fred.

This problem can also effect those already registered as you may not get any notification emails that you have subscribed to.
Although we can sometimes tweak things, it is happening too often with Hotmail and from now on problems with Hotmail will take low priority as it is a problem on their side and not ours.

Don't let it get you down: You don't look as bad as you think, and anybody that does not like it can go and do the other !!
Appointment support: Take someone to your Dermatologist appointment. They seem to treat you a little differently and having another person allows two sides of the same point to be made. There is also the benefit of extra recall of the consultation.

"This month Turnedlight has a Wintery poem for us .....
In The Small Hours
In the small hours
On a cold winters morning
When the darkness
Seems so very long
And before the sun
Thinks about dawning
Or the birds start to
Teach us their song
The dew dusts each leaf
And each blade of the grass
And the world gently sleeps
Till the shadows are cast
In the small hours
On a cold winters morning
The darkness
Seems so very long

Member Angie returned to update her Stelara thread Hi All
At last derm appointment my derm gave me a script for skinoren cream which is normally used for acne, gave it a try to see if it would help with pigmentation but no luck with it, she did say it was a bit of a long shot. She said she would write a letter to my doctor with names of others but I think they will be the ones requiring a private prescription. So pigmentation still rubbish and I think Bill is correct in mentioning the steroid use.
