Hey - 

I had great clearance with Cyclosporin for about 2 years (then randomly stopped working) .  Not many side effects if any and got total clearance in about 2 months.  

It's a great drug and not quite as dangerous as MTX.  You can have the add alcoholic drink too (so my derm told me) 

Consider taking Folic acid with it too.

Been a while since I've been on..... basically the cyclosporin cleared all of my psoriasis apart from my scalp, this summer has been brilliant! Shorts and T-shirts everyday with not even the slightest bit of paranoia!
To anyone who is wondering about wether to try this drug i would definitely recommend it, its been brilliant for me, haven't really suffered any side effects.

Anyway... Had an appointment with the derm last week and he said i am being taken off the cyclo as long term there are risks for liver damage, i am going to be trying a topical treatment, he mentioned one that was injected.

Anybody know which one i am likely to be trying first up??

Cyclosporine isn't one that I have tried. But it's good to read good reports about it, what a shame you are being taken off it

I don't think you meant topical treatment, but systemic treatment which is likely to be injectable

The injectable you may get is possibly methotrexate. Or one of the biological drugs Humira , or hopefully Stelara .....what ever it is I hope it will work as well as the cyclosporine

For me Cyclosporine was very bad , I thought I was dieing in fact it's the worse treatment for P that I have had. Just shows again how we are all different. I have had MTX and that worked for me to about 80℅ clearance but I was very bad to start with. I am now on Stelara and if they offer that jump at it, all the best just keep us updated. Dave.

Yes a "Topical" is applied to the skin and a "Systemic" is taken orally or by injection.

If it's injectable it could be like Jim said "Methotrexate" but my guess would be one of the Bio's. As for which one, they used to start with "Remicade" but it's not so popular today. I'm with Dave if you get offered "Stelara" snatch their hand off.

If they were taking you off cyclosporin for the sake of your liver then an injectable would probably be a bio. I hope you continue to get a good run with your treatment.

Yeah actually thinking about it he did say biological treatment, I have to give not taking anything a go first to see it the p comes back.... Which it will then he said we can look at bio treatments.

hi, i have just started the treatment in the last 2 weeks, had a few side effects, my doses is 250mg a day so i guess quite high. but it does seem to be working. i have had a few issues, like burning stomach, feeling ill, and stomach churning and gas, but seems to be getting less.

 Hopefully this is the one as aceterin was a horrible experience leading to an ingrown toenail.
