First day of antihistamines....let's see where this takes me. I know exactly where it takes me...One day closer to my appointment with a derm.

Don't know which ones you got but my pharmacist recommended Reactine extra strength for me when I was having reactions to Simponi.  

The reason being that they are supposed to last 24 hours.  Benadryl is only four hours.

Pharmacist recommended the same. Hasn't made a lick of difference.

Well, here it is. The antihistamines aren't working with a damn and my GP tells me there isn't much they can do. She just wants me to wait until I see the derm. So the order of the day is more scratching and bleeding and stressing about fighting to not scratch the skin off my arms, legs....etc. etc. Doc did tell me that I have a vitamin B12 deficiency. One of the causes of that is having an autoimmune disorder. Thanks again, psoriasis.   That's it for psoriasis oriented news. Follow more of this on my other thread called Diabetes and psoriasis.

Damn that's a shame the antihistamines didn't work. At least you gave them a go. I'm afraid I'm all out of suggestions now - so sorry Sheila

Could something cold, such as a very cold, wet wash cloth ease the itching?  If you use a bag of frozen peas or ice, be sure to have cloth between your skin and the frozen item.  

A cold, wet wash cloth seems to soothe some of my angry patches.  For a short while, anyway.

I will give that a shot. One of my worst spots is my belly button. Not only is it super itchy all the time, the plaque absolutely FILLS my belly button cavity to overflowing. Don't know how that works but damn it, it itches. Sometimes it itches to the point of being painful.

I think it would be easy to develop an infection in your belly button, especially if it's a deep "innie."  I have to dry mine with a Q-Tip after each shower or bath, but sometimes I had applied a very little over the counter (non-prescription) hydrocortisone on a Q-Tip and sometimes I've used a prescription anti-biotic ointment.  Once I get it to quiet down, it usually stays minimal so long as I remember to dry it after bathing.  Have you tried something similar?

The cortisone (OTC) has zero effect on me in any spot on my body. The drying part is sounding great. When I take a bath, it soothes the itching everywhere. The bath water softens up the dry skin . Then I gently scrape out excess dead skin. It doesn't hurt that way, nor does it bleed.
