Hey all, it may be obvious by now that as a new member I am posting my biggest questions here and there.

For this thread my question is if anyone has tips about the best way to dry long (no idea if length is relevant) hair after a shower with scalp psoriasis. I typically let my hair air dry or towel dry but sometimes I blow dry for expediency. I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a "best" way to keep my scalp healthier. Is the heat from a blowdryer bad? is a cool setting better? is towel drying best? what are your thoughts?

and one more question: I love hot showers! They are the most relaxing thing to me, especially after a long day, is that bad for my scalp psoriasis? I don't think I can give up hot showers even if it is, but I think I should know for reference.

Sadly the answer to hot showers is... yes, it's bad (or at least not good) for the skin. I've read where it's recommended that if you do take hot showers to rinse with cool or at least room temperature water. I struggle with this one as well as I love a hot shower!

I air dry my hair (towel drying is bad for hair, it causes breakage) but if I'm running late where I need to blow dry my hair then I do without any problem. Heat can damage hair and irritate the skin so it's best to be cautious and go with a lower setting specially if you're using the blow dryer often. I do try to keep the airflow on my hair and not on my scalp if I'm blow drying.

I think I may try sitting outside on sunny days to air dry my hair a bit this summer. I don't get enough Vitamin D plus the dermatologist recommended a little bit of sun on the psoriasis so I think I'll give that a try now and then.

I don't have much hair to dry these days, but when I did I used to towel dry and and then let it dry on iot's own.

Re "Hot Showers" NoNo Time to get used to warm showers or if you do insist I'm with Kat and you must rinse with only warm water.
