I was hoping some of you lovely people could supply some advice please. My scalp psoriasis is so bad at the moment that my hair is falling out. It was my hubby that noticed it so I got him to take a picture and it is quite bad. I can't get an appointment to the docs till March 23rd and my dermatologist appt isn't till April. Can anyone suggest something I can do to prevent anymore hair loss and/or something I can use to make my hair thicker. I am seriously at my wit's end. Thank you all

I wish I had the answer for you but I can't find any reason your hair should start falling out using Capasal shampoo it's not on the list of possible side effects
If I were you I would phone the hospital and explain what's happening, they may advise you to stop using the shampoo, or may even see you early

I would be inclined to stop using it anyway and get a gentle shampoo to hopefully halt it, and ask your doctor it he can prescribe something different like Clobex which is a steroid based shampoo

I would also like that I could help you but I cannot. I did a short search and for what it is worth the Internet says that it will come back after you have found a good treatment.

Yes Caroline is right it will grow back. I know it doesn't help answer your question but it may give you some comfort in knowing.

When you say it is falling out. Is it actually falling out or are you pulling it out trying to get the psoriasis down? I used to pull chunks out of mine when I did have some years ago and it did grow back. (It's mostly gone now though, but that is a down to age and being a Male)  Big Grin

I would suggest trying Coconut Oil, I'm a big fan and it's known to be very good for hair as well as psoriasis.

Thanks people for your answers. I try my hardest not to scratch but I think I might be scratching/pulling it out while I am sleeping cause I quite often wake up with pain in my head or hair in my hands so that probably is the reason but I cannot stop that unfortunately. I have ordered coconut oil cause I've heard that is good but think I might phone the doc again tomorrow and get an emergency appointment and see if I could try something else. Thanks again  Smile

Yes you can sometimes be doing the damage yourself, but you may be thinking it's something else causing it that is why I asked.

Yep emergency appointment is probably the best way to go. Explain that it is effecting your quality of life.

To try and stop yourself doing it. Gloves and a tight shower cap, not very comfortable or Vogue but it may help.

I can sympathize! Due to having scalp psoriasis and lots of scratching (it's soooo very hard not to scratch!) I noticed more hair on my brush. In my case, I noticed it with different regular shampoos as well so tried a variety until I found a couple that seem to help. Now I didn't have it to the extent of leaving a bald spot or anything like that, just an increase in hair coming out which could partly be attributed in my case to also being older, but I'm also certain the scalp psoriasis and some treatments made it worse. Hopefully your doctor can help you out with that, but it may take trying out different things to see what it best and yes, as others have said the hair does grow back (although for a female and usually longer hair, that creates some styling issues at times as well, baby hair sticking up and such)

When I've been very itchy at night, I've used cotton gloves, taped on with sticking plaster or you'll pull them off.
It sounds really horrible, I hope you find relief soon. I'm guessing you've tried all the different shampoos already but just in case it helps, I found oilatum shampoo actually worked on my scalp (though I only had it very bad in the back of the hairline at the top of the neck).
