Yes I would go with Cosentyx. I used to get the odd flu like feeling with Stelara mostly after the shot, but have never had a problem that way with Cosentyx.

I have been on it over 2 years now and don't think I have had the flu in that time and I never have the flu jab. But like Caroline said it may not be the Stelara, and there has been a lot of flu around this winter so you could just be unlucky.

Flu type symptoms , upper respiratory problems and minor infections can be the side effects of the Stelara and I have occasionally had problems but fatigue has been my main trouble but we are all different.
I will be very interested if you change as my derm has mentioned it to me .

thanks all =]  Fred; it's not just this winter for me. last year alone I counted six heavy flus from january till august alone. Plus one in oktober and now 2 in this young year. Luckily I have a good employer, I think if I worked for a commercial company I would have been kicked out already.

Could be the Stelera then Artemie, but could still also be you (no offence meant) Wink

If it's that often then yes I would be looking to switch, so my recommendation would be to go for Cosentyx next and see what happens. *But we are all different and as you know "What works for one may not work for another"

hi all,

haven't posted in a while I see. Stopped Stelera, had the last injection on the 16th of january, just couldn't do it anymore.

Reason; having a heavy flu once a month has been totally devastating. I know it doens't affect everybody that heavily: this I researched on this and other fora.
I checked my agenda and the notes the dermatologist took after seeing her( I can see them online ) and it was really once a month, one week on the couch out of commission, one week to recuperate, 2 weeks of no flu... and lo and behold: the next flu.  About a year and a half of this.

These flus stopped mid april, 3 months after my last shot.

So Stelara and me are no match.

Humira, which I was on before,  was a similar nightmare for me, plus non-carateristic depression.

If you read this now or in the future; don't be discouraged because biologicals do wonders for lots of people. Though we are all different. You can find plenty of good testimonials online.

So I've decided that I'm nowhere in the mood for trying other biologicals at the moment and am going the Pagano psoriasis diet way, mixed with some new findings. No gluten and such.
( Caroline; thanks for your input, will consider what you're doing if the treatment becomes available closer to home and doable with public transport )
Started on the 22th of july, but I'm not giving up my glass(es) of wine ( yet )  And the colonics I'm skipping as well, see where the diet and teas get me before resorting to that Smile

If you want to read more about diet and psoriasis, I recommend some good old online research and this thread: How I Cured My Psoriasis By Diet

The more I read about it, the more I am convinced that food and the way your intestines handle it has to do with the outward manifestation of psoriasis on your skin. Must say I've had this book on the diet for more than 10 years.... but it's quite strict, I didn't want to do it before or kept it up for long.

smiles,

   Artemie

Shame the bio's didn't work for you, but like you say we are all different.

Good luck with the natural approach, and don't hesitate to start another thread about it if you wish.

Hi ArteMie,

That is a strong decision !
But very understandable, I would also quit if it was that bad, you still did try long enough.

Not much chance that my treatment will come closer shortly I fear for you. Smile But I heard that some other doctors are also doing the treatment, I can look into that.
Anyway scientific research in Delft and Leiden, show the existance of L-form bacteria, so there is really something going on.

I agree with you on the diet. I think it is sensible of you to try that, but very heavy ! I admire you on your decision and I am very curious on what will be your results.
So I wish you very much success in this new direction ! Thumb

Caroline

Artemie sorry I haven't answered before I somehow missed this  Confused
Just a thought but have you considered skilarence it's basically  the same as the drug I was on before Fumaderm...but I was switched a month ago and  so far so good I had 7 years clear in Fumaderm and hope for as long again on Skilarence
It might be easier than diet as I eat what I like and drink like a fish  Big Grin
Just something to consider
