I found my first patch back in 2000 it was small just at my hairline on top of my forehead. I was 33 then. I didn't give it much thought  chalked it up to the hair colour I had just applied. But the patch grew and flaked and not long after my Dr, confirmed it was psoriasis. For the past 17 years it has completely covered my scalp, my knees. various spots on my back, toe nails etc. then just last week it is invading my face.
My Dr. is setting me up now to have cosentyx. I am excited and nervous at the same time. Afraid of the possible side effects, afraid it won't work, trying hard not to let this condition own me, But I am thankful to have the chance at being clear in nearly 20 years
Will be nice not to leave flakes everywhere I go..So glad to come across this site..Reading the experiences of others has helped put my some of my worries to rest.

Hi Yvonne and   to the club. I'm glad you have found your way here. You have found probably the best support group for psoriasis sufferers anywhere. Here you can exchange  experiences with others with the same problem. And read about their experiences and share yours, without advertising, or spam or any outside pressure .... it is the only truly independent psoriasis site,

I'm sorry that your psoriasis has got so bad and has now got on your face ..... that was always for me the worst place to see it, as your face is difficult to hide from others. But you seem to have found a good dermatologist who has prescribed you a great drug.
Members here that are taking it have shown very good results and many have got clear very quickly. I hope it works as well for you.

Hello Yvonne   to Psoriasis Club.

Cosentyx is getting excellent feedback from our members (I'm one of them) I can understand your apprehension about starting it and as with all treatments it may not be suitable for everyone. But the good thing about the Bio treatments is that you can stop and go onto another one, and there are many available with more in the pipeline.

The Bio's gave me back my life, so I think you are in for a pleasant surprise.  

Don't hesitate to start a thread in Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis if you wish about your journey, it's a good way of keeping track of your progress and your input could help others.

Grab yourself some coconut oil and rub it into your patches of P, it's brilliant stuff as a moisturiser

Hi Yvonne , welcome to the forum which beyond doubt is the best one that you will come across with more information on P and PsA than anywhere else you can find, Fred does not allow adverts or people trying to con us with promises of magic cures and any question will be answered by inmates who have the same problems and know what it's all about.
Most of the inmates are barmy but are friendly and will not bite , have a good look around and ask any questions you want as any answers you can guarantee are truthful and hopefully useful.
PS, GB is not as bad as they say , I have to say that as sometimes you have to tell a few white lies.

Thank you everyone for your positive and welcoming comments. My treatment with cosentyx should begin in September 
still have the tests (TB etc) to take care but have scheduled appointments for it already.  
I will be sure to check in and keep you all apprised of my progress
This will be my first go around with a Bio.  I have, like many others, a cabinet full of lotions, creams, shampoos,,,which have now been rendered useless. Up on til the point of the outbreak on my face I had learned to co exist with my psoriasis,  It is itchy and at times unsightly but was never really painful, But the patches on my face which are very noticeable (flaming red) are raw. They burn. As they surround my mouth it stings every time I eat, brush my teeth.... The Dr. has suggested I use the Betamethazone cream until I get going with the cosentyx.
I will be getting the coconut oil as suggested,,But does anyone have any other ideas they could share with me to help alleviate the burning and inflammation

You could try an ice pack if it's bothering you. A spare pack of peas is very handy for that. *Just remember to mark it and not eat them as it's not good to keep refreezing.

Also as you are going to try the coconut oil, you will find that can help sooth the burning sensation.

But best of all Cosentyx will work quickly and you will soon notice a difference. It may make the psoriasis feel a little itchy and tight at first as the skin start healing but that soon wears off.

I myself, I have PsA, don't react at all at food, but my sister (the guys over here know I have a sister, but they do not know that she has P and PsA too) reacts very strongly to certain foods. Specifically in her face, which can react to very reddish when she eats one of the three "P's", Peanuts, Paprika or Tomato's.
