Hi Debbie  and a big welcome  Welcome to the club, it's Good  to have another Fumaderm user here, although we have several who are on it here now, with varying degrees of success

You have been on Fumaderm since mid November you say and are up to 4 tablets a day, you still have a little way to go to get on maximum dose. It was a long time ago when I started on it and I seem to remember i was on full dose before I got any real clearance, it's not a fast drug unfortunately but when it works it should give you long term clearance.......I have been clear almost 5 years on it now

The fact you are seeing a difference means it's starting to work for you, stick with it, it will be worth it

Are you due to increase your dose ?

Are you taking them with food and plenty of fluid?

hi jiml and thanks for reply.

ive only been on the 4 tabs for 3 wks but im thinking of contacting consultant to see if i can go higher as i feel its not improving any more.

my consultant didnt want me going on fumaderm and only agreed to it as i pushed her, she seems to prefer methatrexade. im sure if i ask to up dose she will probably try and persude me to change tablets but i would like to stick on them.

im i right in believing you can got up to six a day.

thanks for your help

Hi Debbie,

As Jim says, it is a long shot before it works. You have to build up gradually and you still can go up to 6 tabs, if you can deal with that.
It is good to take them with a lot of food, and it is also good to take them intermittently. So 5 days on, two days off, that is better for your intestines and for your lymphocytes.

If you compare Fumaderm to Methotrexate, than you compare relatively harmless to pure poison.
Ask your dermatologist if she herself will take methotrexate Smile She will say no... Smile

Welcome to psoriasisclub.

Cheers,
Caroline

I divide them over the morning and the evening, but I am on a different form of DMF, wait for Jim to answer.

Yes that's right the maximum dose is six tablets a day after the initial white tablet build up which should take 3 weeks , you build up to the maximum dose of full strength tablets ( blue)!by increasing by one tablet a week so six weeks after you start on the blue pills you should be up to six tablets a day you should then have a stabilising period
When you have been clear a while you can then start to reduce the tablets...
I now take 4 a day to keep the psoriasis away
See the leaflet instructions here
Fumaderm leaflet

Don't let your dermatologist put you on methotrexate as Fumaderm is a far safer drug
But they both need blood monitoring
