my scalp was so bad once and really really thick, it was painful to even smile or make any face movement.

I remember I started to rinse my hair ready to wash it then saw I had no more polytar so tried a different shampoo as it was anti dandraff I thought what the Hell..........I'm glad I used it my scalp more or less cleared on that first wash, I was in totally shock I wrote the company a letter to see if they had ever thought of getting it put on to be a prescription thing for scalp psoriasis....sadly not.....but it's easy to get Head and shoulders menthol I kid you not.

it doesn't work as well for me know, but I don't suffer with scalp P anywhere near as bad as I did then (about 8 years ago)

I still use it but I also use different shampoo's and these I get from a health food store, organic SLS free one is aloe vera the other is tea tree these have also been sooooo nice to use, my scalp does have P but it is alot calmer using these products

good luck

Hello Gertie Big Grin

Have your tried a 50/50 mix of Olive and Peanut Oil. rub it on your scalp before bed, wrap your head in cling film, then wash out in the morning using a comb. It may make your hair greasy for a bit but it will help release the flakes and sooth your scalp.

Another option would be Coconut Oil. you can get it from ethnic shops, don't confuse it with Coconut Milk. you need the oil.

Maybe worth a go it certainly wont hurt.

Your welcome I hope it helps. if you do use the oil warm it up a little first as it will penetrate better. Oh and if you have long hair it could be difficult to get right down into the scalp.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Thanks Suzy,

I need a hip replacement surgery next month. My surgeon said he cannot operate on my hip until I clear the area. I think I am going to break out some skin cap. Have you ever used it? what do you think?

Thx

My mother got psoriasis when she had small go around with breast cancer at 73, then it went away.

I use neutrogena T gel tar shampoo, and I add conditoner to it.

Never had psoriasis attack my face. The whole experience is rather humbling; and at times frustrating to look after. When I do not eat - it goes away. I drink shakes; was on a soft diet, pre and post jaw surgery.

So, not fond of the fasting thing.

The thing I like about this site most is -that you are not alone.

The face spots are hard to deal with but I think I am more stressed over my hands being covered right now.Big sausage fingers with red and white spots all over them get noticed more......and it hurts! Of course right now I look like I have chicken pox,but can hide most of it.

Some days this disease really suks!

Hi everyone!
Sorry I was absent a few days....P and psa got so bad I was a mess.I argued with the doc and ended up with a week of methylprednisolone. After 2 days I am a lot better and can bend my fingers and the scale is gone.I am gearing up with otcs after this week ends.
They knew nothing of fumarestes(sp) and didn't even want to talk about them.
I used to use the skin scalp which had un reported steroids, but have not used it since they changed it.Just like denorex....it changed.
Will be back in group tom after a good sleep.
((((HUGS))) to all!
Suzy
