Had to ask the wifey to put the compound cream on my back tonight cause I couldn't reach it. The first humira shot totally destroyed my skin.. I have worked so hard to be where I'm at and this one shot took everything away. I remember reading all of the comments on the humira site about people having horrible exsperinces with this drug but I thought it would never happen to me.. Well it did , my whole body is nothing but a huge breakout!  Tonight I think my wife cringed when she applied the cream on my back and it sucks so bad..

Bad luck Bobby it's terrible when a treatment doesn't work. I can't imagine how you feel when it makes you far worse, hopefully the prednisone will reduce the flare quickly as it is a corticosteroid and that may help reduce the flare up
I will keep my fingers crossed in the hope that you get over this quickly.its good your wife is supporting you through this .
Do you know what the compound cream is?

That is a shame Bobby I know that feeling when you get it in your head that this is the one. I too had a problem when I first went onto the Bio treatments.

#1 Remicade: Was my first it worked great and was amazing at clearing my skin and unlocking my psoriatic arthritis. But after a few months my body just wasn't happy and I had to come off it.

#2 Enbrel: This was great my skin cleared up again and the psoriatic arthritis was the best it had been for a long time, unfortunately it just stopped working one day.

#3 Humira: It was fantastic for about a month then I had a reaction to it and ended up in hospital for a week as my body was shutting down. That wasn't nice and to be honest started putting me off the Bio treatments, but my dermatologist said "Don't give up we will find something"

#4 Stelara: Wow she was right there was something, and Stelara gave me back my life again. I have been on it now for over 5 years and although I had a few times when I thought it maybe failing, after us playing around with the dose life is good again.

So my opinion would be don't let it get you down, ask for another Bio to try. It can take time but the next one could be the one for you, plus there are more than the ones I mention above today and even more in the pipeline.

It's natural to have a fear as they are still a new treatment, but for me without them I would be a wreck as the Oral treatments are not for me sick

Talk it over with your wife, have a look through Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis and do a bit of reading and get others opinions.

But me I would say try another bio. Thumb

Fred, you dont know that for certain. Caroline, Jim, Joana et al take their stuff without any fuss. I could probably take three lots of 240 mg daily without much fuss either, but it would likely give me a lymphopaenia and would not control my disease. Just as there are no ground rules for the course of the disease, there can be no ground rules for the treatment you use other than it being worth the effort. Two bellyaches for seven peaceful sleeps and the ability to sit comfortably is an excellent rate of exchange.

Cheers,

Bill

No Bill what I mean is they're not for me by choice. Makes no difference to me what evidence there is or what success others have, I just wouldn't take them. If I ended up with no choice then I might look at the DMF's but oral treatment of any kind is not something I would like to take, I gag just thinking of taking a paracetamol. Yes I know I could sprinkle it on my corn flakes and wash it down with yoghurt, but even the slightest turn in the guts or a dash to the bog would be enough for me to throw the rest away and give up.

That's why they are not for me, nothing to do with if they work or not. I just don't like oral treatments of any kind.

Oral treatments of the red variety can be very nice sometimes, Fred.

I thank you all for your encouraging words.. It means so much, I'm glad I have a group that I can exspess my feelings and concerns with. its really hard some times dealing with this but it makes it easier having people who had walked the same path and understand . Thank you  Bigarm

You are one of us now Smile and in future may well be able to give encouragement to another sufferer.

It's not a pleasant road we walk but having a place like this does make it easier knowing we aren't alone Thumb
