Hi Annette and welcome!

This was a concern of mine as well. As you know, dyes (especially those that lighten) can be harsh on the hair and scalp. I had really bad scalp psoriasis and was afraid to use any color. I finally couldn't stand it anymore so I went with a mild hair color (by mild I mean I went with a temporary instead of permanent, one that the ingredients listed did not sound too daunting) and was careful not to rub it in my scalp. I had no issues. I would refrain from any dyes containing peroxide during a flair and make sure to condition hair well afterwards. You also might try to call around to hair salons and ask if anyone has experience with treating hair for someone with psoriasis. Also, if you color at home and are sensitive to colors or want to see how your skin reacts, do a small test area.

If you search around the internet, henna is indeed recommended, but I've never used henna and my hair is (or at least was!) naturally blonde so henna wouldn't work well for me.

Good luck and you should be fine, ask the pharmacist for advice while there.

You use it, it will make you feel good.  

Should it cause a flare up, massage your scalp with a good quality Coconut Oil wrap you head in cling film, leave it a few hours or overnight, then wash it out in warm water. Do that everyday for week and you should calm the flare down

Just to keep you updated on my hair dye dilemma!!!I did look in the pharmacy but didn't have my specks my sister in law was with me and she said to leave it as my hair didn't look too bad. So I went to the hairdressers had a good cut in the hope that most of the Grey's Will be cut out. Thanks again for all your comments and help.

If you're comfortable with a new style and the gray either isn't bad or it doesn't bother you, then yes I would do the same. Less chemicals on the scalp the better

In my case, the gray blends in with my blond fairly well..... until I'm under a bright light or in the sun then you can see the "silver" show up quite well and it's a fair bit so I'm more comfortable with coloring. I have darkened my hair a bit though as the more natural dyes (I'm not sure they could be called that honestly, I guess the less harsher dyes would be a better way to word it) do not come in lighter shades since there is no lightening involved.

The main thing is to do what makes you feel best about yourself while still trying to keep your skin from being irritated.
