Hi ccarr06

Thank-you for your post.  Smile

I don't think people eat enough fruit, I know I don't.  I also found, if you keep your feet warm, you're less likely to get a cold.  I forgot this last week and got a cold.  I also burned my throat with hot coffee and left myself defenseless against cold germs.  The cold started with a sore throat.

It's interesting you mention calcium.  I just posted some info on Caroline's thread "Is psoriasis a viral problem".  See her post on...this thread... RE: Is psoriasis a viral problem

Thanks again! Interesting post.  Smile

As far as I know an extra tip.
A cold is also a virus.
This normally reaches you via your lungs.
The road to your lungs is passing through your throat, the trachea. In your throat are a lot of little hairs. In most cases these hairs are able to catch most of the viruses that are coming in and get rid of them before you can be getting contaminated.
In the cold, these hairs become less flexible and work less good, so viruses may come through much more easily.
This leads to the conclusion that it makes sense to wear a scarf or shawl in the cold in order to keep your throat warm and the hairs flexible.

If it works.... I don't know, but is certainly has a placebo effect. Big Grin

Hey guys!

I am a new poster here but I too have seen Vitamin C to be a huge benefit. I was reading on another site that probiotics can really help too. I was taking a brand that actually is designed for the immune system and has Vitamin C included, and I feel like I'm starting to notice a difference! Has anyone else used probiotics? Or seen any benefit? Everything I read says this can really help with your skin...but then I also read a lot of things that it could be deep-seeded emotional distress. So hard to know what can be done for this debilitating issue that is eating my skin alive!

EDIT By Fred website and brand removed.

Hi Jennifer,

Welcome to the forum.
I guess that you didn't read the rules, hihi, Rules , direct links are not allowed. So that is why Fred removed it.
Indeed I think a healthy digestive system can be very important to fight psoriasis. It is even known that there are several people that have beaten psoriasis by following a very strict diet. But... that is a very heavy diet. Smile Myself I do not have the guts to try it.

When others see your posts they will probably react to it.

In the mean time it can also be handy to go to the introductions part and start a thread over there in which you tell something about yourself. It is the best way of meeting the other members, who will undoubtedly react to that.

See you,
Caroline

It wasn't a link Caroline but a mention of a website and a non prescription product that I removed.

Just wanted to confirm.

Why not just eat an orange or drink OJ. Obtaining vitamins from real food is more beneficial than popping a pill.

Hi Jennifer and  Welcome to the club , we are all very friendly here and although we don't always agree with each other we do respect each other's views . As we all have this awful disease to contend with and share experiences here what works and what doesn't, we are all different and what works for me may well not work for you,
But through the membership here Fred has built a site which is unique. In as much as there are no outside influences whatsoever. It is full of information and constantly being added to

What you read are true experiences.

I hope you will return and let us know how your probiotic and vitamin C diet works there are some on here who try to control the disease with diet but I don't have the willpower and I'm happy on the drug that has cleared my skin . I see you are also on Humira and I'm wondering if it's working for you ?
Thanks for joining and plucking up the courage to post, but as Caroline has said it would be nice if you were to start a thread of your own in introductions

Jim

Welcome Jennifer!

I agree that good health can definitely help one's body fight against any disease. I know probiotics has been a big deal but I recently read an article that also warned against them. A good, healthy diet is always the best way to go.
