Harmful Ingredients in Skincare Products

Be thankful you weren't blessed with Kudzu. The weed that ate the south! Imported from Asia by our all knowing bunch of idiots in Washington to control erosion. It resists any kind of weed killer and it's vines can cover a forest if left alone.

Fluoride is another bag of tricks. Chemical companies found they could get rid of a hazardous waste, and get paid for it. They constantly grease politician's hands and woo the dental community with the millions they rake in, on a substance that  potentially would have put them out of business trying to get rid of it. "All for the children"!

I wonder how many of our afflictions are caused by Fluoride and other toxins deemed safe by those in power.

Enough of my ranting!

Kudso I just googled oooh that looks a nasty plant it's worse than the Russian vine that we have That grows over everything smothering trees and bushes and goes mad .. We call it a mile a minute

Thank you for the list of harmful ingredients. I know that I'm one that does not carefully check the labels of things I apply to my skin and rely too much on hoping that the FDA is doing their job. Of course even ingredients considered safe now, may be found to be harmful in years to come.

I have always been very cautious about this sort of thing. I always avoid fancy shower products and shampoos because I thought they would irritate my skin.
As I have quite extensive psoriasis on my hands it has become a nightmare. So much so, that I have to wear gloves when handling washing in fear that the soap would cause a bad reaction or something.I looked a bit silly during the summer, hanging the washing out whilst wearing gloves but it seems I have been doing the wisest thing.

Oh what fun psoriasis is and oh how i'd love to be able to buy gorgeous smelling soap products

I know that feeling about wearing gloves, my fingers where always flaring up from even getting anywhere near soap powder, but I've found avoiding Parabens has helped a lot and we now always avoid them.

Oh Charlotte yes it's a shame you have to cover your hands to hang the washing out ... But I think it's the right thing to do
. it would be good if we knew exactly what to steer clear of that would make life so much easier ...
I do hope you will be able to clear your hands sometime soon .... Now im clear I can use the harsher nice smelling soap products without any effect on me ... So strive to get clear and who knows ..... Lush bath products

I've been aware of some of the nasties that appear in every day cleansing products for some time. Shortly after the psoriasis reared its ugly head for the first time, I researched the impact that the ingredients were potentially having on my skin.

I avoid anything that foams as it usually includes SLS which is a really awful chemical. I also avoid anything that contains artificial fragrances for the same reason. However as the washing up is my job at home, I'm happy to continually plunge my hands into hot, foamy water to clean the dishes and the small reoccurring patches that tend to appear on the backs of my hands don't seem to get any worse.

There are so many excellent products on the market that do not include agents such as SLS but most contain palm oil which isn't fabulous for the ecologically concious of us (if I'm not mistaken) however the costs of these products often drives me to go without.

My preference at home is a tub of aqueous cream. It's an excellent product that does not contain anything that I'm not happy with. It's also inexpensive.
