Well hi there (again). It's been an upsy downsy last couple of months to say the least.

My partner started his teaching assistant position but is fast becoming disenchanted with it. The school he works at seems to be terribly disorganised and a bit too prone to using the 'less carrot, more stick' approach which runs counter to his own teaching practices. Plus he needs more hours as we have found that we are dipping into the redundancy money each month just to pay for basics. Frustrating.

My own plan to use my voluntary post to springboard me back into the world of work has backfired spectacularly as two flare ups and a viral infection have blighted my life over the past couple of months and I've had to give it up. I have tried to get a few hours work myself to take the pressure off but am painfully aware that a) jobs are getting scarce and b) my abilities are compromised. I had an interview on Thursday for a few hours cleaning work but ended up collapsing at school just as I dropped off our boy. :(

Which brings me onto the 'upside'. Smile

Despite everything we managed to get away to Athens as planned during half term. My feet were quite sore (about a 4 or 5 on the scale) but I managed to get to the Parthenon. It was a slow, arduous climb. I was even beaten to the top by a guy waiting for a knee replacement, but I DID IT!!! Big Grin It was spectacular and, for someone who doing the school run unscathed is a major achievement, I felt very proud of myself.

I unfortunately managed to pick up a virus on the plane journey home (hence the collapse) but it did mean I got a thorough going over at hospital. Everything, BP/ECG, kidney function, lungs etc, came back tip top. I can't tell you how relieved I am (especially about the kidney function being on cyclosporine).

Consequently I did have a quiet birthday whilst I recuperated but, apart from the job niggle, I feel positive. Thumb

Right.....shutting up now and off to catch up with the forum news.

That don't sound like a good move in my opinion, you should look for something sitting.

Yes, I know I should look for something sitting. I have applied for admin type roles but the cleaning one was the only one to get back in touch.

In the meantime I'm looking for another volunteer post similar to the one I had but closer to home (as it was 20 miles travelling there and back). Applied for CAB, our local Carers Centre and a couple of others (all desk based).

I just wish I could do something to help on the job front. I hate seeing my O/H worrying. Daft as it sounds, just an extra 4 hours a week would make all the difference.

I see your point on wanting to put something in the pot and good on ya. CAB would be good, an interesting job and helping others would make you feel good.

Just a thought, and I don't know much about it or how you could find out more. But someone I once knew got a few hours a week as an on-line Bingo moderator working from home and she loved it.

I used to be a CAB volunteer back in the nineties. Really enjoyed it, got loads of training and was encouraged to apply for a paid position. Lets just say my partner at the time wasn't happy to have his pet errrrr I mean wife earning. Confused

I keep looking at work from home positions but most are scams or catalogue distributing.

Psoriasis has really narrowed my field in an already depleted job market.......but I'll keep looking. Smile

Well, I've just had a really bad week. Although I didn't get any pustules my skin has been very dry, itchy and sore. As I haven't done anything different in my regime I can only surmise that it's the weather. The cold seems to have permeated into my feet and made them super sensitive.
And my shoes fell to pieces too. Blush
As they were the only ones I could comfortably function in I was a bit stuck for doing the school run and had to rely on friends to give me lifts.....in my slippers.
Anyone else have an issue with psoriasis and Winter?

Yep always worse in the winter and PsA worse when it's damp. Thumbsdown I find I can't drink so much water in the winter, and I think the heating dry's out the skin. That plus lack of sunlight always makes me feel like hibernating for the winter. Sleep

Yes, winter is quite uncomfortable.
I am way less worse than you are, only have a sore toe right now, seems that I get more little problems in winter.

Oh how I used to hate the coming of winter, especially after a good summer, when I was on topical steroids and UVA treatment. After a few weeks of winter the redness appeared and the scales got thicker, (daily hoovering was a must, the car looked as if there had been a snow storm inside.
But touch wood since finding a tablet to control the symptoms, the winter holds no fear for me. I like Caroline just have the odd little problem mine is my thumb nail. Bugger all compared to yours.
I hope you find some relief soon, and good luck looking for a part time job. I wish I could get my pet to work (I hope she doesn't read this)Scare

Jim,

One thing strikes me.
We, the DMF users, seem to be having the least problems .

That is remarkable. I wished that others would be intrigued by that.
