It was a 5 minute walk away for a fit person but I took it steady and did it in 15.
Am currently soaking my right foot as it has torn but I feel FANTASTIC!!!  Thumb
I managed to have a massage and get rid of lots of knots. Then I joined in at a free meditation/relaxation workshop and lowered my stress levels enormously.
I don't feel embarrassed saying that I feel really proud of what I have achieved today. It was great to have some social interaction.
I can't leave this as a one off. This is going to become part of my 'treatment' and help me to cope better.
Just wanted to share that with you all.  Smile

Great news Brighteyes I'm so glad your day was successful 5 minutes 15 minutes who cares you did it... You have certainly come away from the day feeling great and sounding positive , and I think it's a good idea if it made you feel better to keep at some of the activities.
Good on you, you're rightly proud of your achievement and I'm pleased for you  Thumb

Brilliant and like Jim said "15 mins to do what someone else can do in 5 is fine" at least you managed to do it and you have the right to feel proud.  Thumb

So are you going to grow Dreadlocks now and get an old Van ? Cool

That massage sounds good I could do with one myself, you say you want to continue with it. Obviously the massage part would be difficult without some help, but can you do the meditation/relaxation techniques yourself at home or will you need to find a local group? I would be interested to now more about the mediation thing as I've looked at it in the past, but just get my head around how or where you start.  Confused

The massage therapist is local and very reasonable prices. I don't mind if I have to taxi there and back. I see it as an investment in myself and my wellbeing.
As for the meditation, there are numerous guided ones on YouTube or MP3 that only require a bit of time and some headphones. It's worth listening to some to find one that you like and incorporating it into your day. Smile
After my achievements yesterday, I realised that part of my problem is a psychological barrier. Yes, my feet are sore but I think I have let fear keep me isolated too. Small but significant goals are the key.
Hope that all makes sense and doesn't sound too 'hippy'. Tongue

Yes you can't put a price on your wellbeing, and as long as it doesn't hurt you budget to much it's got to be worth it.

I've had a quick look and I think it may take me some time find some of the music I can get into, and I can't see myself sitting cross legged not only as I will get bored but my legs don't bend so well these days. Having said that, I'm going to give it another look.

It makes a lot of sense and I fully agree, I recently put my self in one of my stubborn no turning back moods and it has helped me get out of a rut. As for sounding to Hippy you're talking to an Old Hippy.  Rolleyes

Fred, you don't have to get into any weird position to meditate. I just lay down, relax and go with the flow (yes, I AM still talking about meditation). Tongue

Booked my first combined massage and acupuncture session for next Monday. Really looking forward to it. Smile

Thanks Jim.
I do feel a lot calmer lately and it feels nice to be doing something just for me.
I've been so impatient with myself and have let it dominate me for too long.
Must keep remembering....I have psoriasis, psoriasis doesn't have me. Smile

Great take on life brighteyes I can understand it's difficult putting yourself first. But sometimes it's the right thing to do. I think we can all be guilty if that's the right term of forgetting our own needs while trying to cater for kids and partners
I'm glad you have found something outside the house to give you a lift and who knows positive thinking is also beneficial to psoriasis  Thumb keep those thoughts positive and come back and talk ... I always need company and don't sleep well. So I'm often here at this time .... Or any other time my iPad is usually left on this site and if not I get a pleasant vibration in my pocket when a post is made  Big Grin

ooooh, I want a massage! (But not if I have to have the acupuncture thing!) I've had the pins stuck in me for nerve studies and although they don't hurt, I just didn't like having them stuck in me.

I really like your saying that you have psoriasis, psoriasis doesn't have you! I'll have to remember that one. Smile

Now that sounds easier, I was thinking I would have to get my legs up around my head.

Good luck with the acupuncture, it will be interesting to get your thoughts on if it helped. I have thought about it before and know some people swear by it for pain relief, but I wonder if it's the placebo effect myself. (Though I can't judge as I've not tried it)

Oh and keep that positive attitude, your doing great. Smile
