My name is Kathy and I'm posting for my daughter. She has what I believe is some form of psoriasis. She has been to her GP about 6 times and 3 times to a Dermatologist who said she has atopic dermatitis but I would stake my life on the fact that he is wrong. I've known people with psoriasis and what she has is worse than anything I've ever seen. This morning her pajamas were stuck to her body from skin weeping and bleeding. Her acupuncture DR her body has damp heat. Last week her GP finally took blood and she is supposed to get the results in the next few days. I feel so helpless. Everything I've tried to do for her has not worked. Does anyone have any advice?
Hello Kathy,
Welcome to psoriasisclub.
It is very difficult, virtually impossible to decide on the basis of a blood test if someone has psoriasis. But it might be possible to exclude that it is not atopic dermatitis, I am not sure of that, maybe one of the others knows.
And if it is not that, then it looks as if it is psoriasis on the basis of logics.
So if you have the diagnosis AND a good dermatologist, if he/she is able to admit his/her fault, then there are a lot of possibilities for treatment.
I have the impression that she has quite some heavy outbreak right now. That should plead for as fast as possible starting with systemic treatment. Normally those are the hoops that you have to go through… Maybe an in-between, lighttherapy might help to quicly lower the burden for your daughter, but you have to remember that lighttherapy “never” definitively helps, so beware of too much radiation.
No doubt some of the other members will soon react to your question.
Caroline.
