Sadly the answer to hot showers is... yes, it's bad (or at least not good) for the skin. I've read where it's recommended that if you do take hot showers to rinse with cool or at least room temperature water. I struggle with this one as well as I love a hot shower!
I air dry my hair (towel drying is bad for hair, it causes breakage) but if I'm running late where I need to blow dry my hair then I do without any problem. Heat can damage hair and irritate the skin so it's best to be cautious and go with a lower setting specially if you're using the blow dryer often. I do try to keep the airflow on my hair and not on my scalp if I'm blow drying.
I think I may try sitting outside on sunny days to air dry my hair a bit this summer. I don't get enough Vitamin D plus the dermatologist recommended a little bit of sun on the psoriasis so I think I'll give that a try now and then.
