I have just returned from my doctor and told her my scalp psoriasis is so painful I was in tears trying to sleep last night and she said psoriasis doesn't hurt. Has anyone else ever been told that cause believe me mine is extremely painful?

I love it when someone who has never had it tells you it doesn't hurt. Pin her down and cover her head with Gaffer Tape, rip it off and rub salt on her scalp, then say to her "It doesn't hurt" of course it hurts.

Depending on how long or thick your hair is you could try Coconut Oil Rub loads of it into your scalp and cover with cling film, leave it in overnight (a shower cap will help the cling film stay in place) then wash it out with lukewarm water in the morning.

Try it for a couple of days and see if it's helping.

I suggest you go back Claire & kick her between the legs & ask her if that hurts ?

Right now i am a right mess with my P & just trust me, it's sore, bloody painful & so itchy that it keeps me awake.

And these ars**oles are striking again soon Angry

Last night, i wore cotton gloves after applying thick loads of virgin coconut oil on my hands because they are so sore & tender & i went to sleep with them on.

Woke up today, gloves off & ' corn flakes ' (slightly exaggerated) came off but it did ease my P a hell of a lot.

That's terrible treatment, it's insensitive and a health professional should know better.
Were you given anything to help ?

If not go back and ask for a referral to a dermatologist ...I'm sure they would never tell you that psoriasis isn't painful, and will give you something to control it,

Unfortunately you will probably have to wait for an appointment, in the meantime Freds idea with the coconut oil is worth a try

I do have a dermatologist and she is really good but the treatment she prescribed for my scalp wasn't working and I don't go back to see her for four weeks but went the the doc today cause I was in tears with the pain last night. I have now been given something else but the pharmacy will not have it till tomorrow but I will make sure I never go back to that doctor, luckily she was not my normal doc I only got her as my doc had no appointments today. I just thought when she said it that I was the only one who felt pain. Glad to hear I'm not but sorry you are all experiencing pain. Thanks for the replies as always everyone on here is extremely helpful

They have that pain scale number thing because they understand that pain is personal and can be felt differently so it's all based upon how bad the patient feels instead of a comparison to how another feels. To say "psoriasis isn't painful" is ridiculous. Scalp psoriasis for me was the most difficult as it itched like crazy, burned when washing hair even with just the water hitting it and was raw in places from where the skin shed (and scratching and brushing hair just made it even more painful) and even if there was no physical pain, there can be emotional pain when you're walking around looking like someone poured something white all over your shoulders and you're afraid you are leaving dead skin behind wherever you go. I remember perching ever so cautiously on the edge of my father-in-law's couch afraid to sit all the say back and leave my mark behind and I rarely visited people for that same reason. I definitely would NOT see that doctor again and glad to hear it's not your regular one!!!

It amazes me how hard it is to become a doctor and yet how stupid some of them seem to be..
