Well the male nurses didn't seem guay at all  Big Grin  great eye candy! Even the cardiologist was quit handsome!  I have a follow up with him in two months.

Dave, you'll have to post a picture of you in a nurse uniform for me to judge  Big Grin

And yes, I have no choice to take the time off....my boss and colleagues are watching me and I will get in trouble if i log in for work  Confused

No I didn't manage to quit but I have no choice now.  Cardiologist even said my hubby has to quit because of second hand smoke.

My hubby said he would.....first time he's willing to try.  He got quite a scare.

My pharmacist will let me and my body get over the shock it just went through and then will look into supporting us to quit smoking. In the meantime, I am trying to reduce the number of smokes I have per day.  It's difficult....I enjoy smoking.

I was lucky it was mild and that I listened to the paramedic to go to the hospital (he was cute too lol) and that they stopped me from leaving the hospital.  If I would have stayed home or left, the next one (as there would have been another) would most likely have caused damage or been fatal.

This was a shock (I am too young to get this, I was the youngest patient in the cardiology ward) and a huge warning.

Yes use it to your advantage. I was around 11 when I started smoking and my whole family smoked, I would get through 40 a day and have smoked some odd things in my life  Rolleyes

I tried a few times to give up and failed, but one day money was tight and my Dad died after suffering with COPD for a few years. It encouraged me to have another go, it was hard but in the end I would say it was worth it.

Keep well.

Make the most of relaxing and not stressing about work, it will still be there when you're fit again  Thumb
I hope you have great success giving up smoking your heart will thank you for that, and if you need help there are lots of products to replace the nicotine craving, although after your scare I'm sure you will succeed and I hope Mr KatT manages as well .. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed as I know how hard it was when I gave up

You are truly a perfect male specimen Dave  Big Grin

I have no choice but to quit....might try the patch this time but I'm worried it may cause psoriasis where I put the patch....has anyone tried?

Went for my walk with Mr. KatT today as per cardiologist's orders....just went at my pace as I get out of breath easily.

Xrays at hospital also showed that there's still inflammation on the right lung (pericardial effusion) from my lupus flare at the end of February.....which I knew as I can still feel it.

Time for another GP visit.

One day at a time......

Thank you all for your support

Bigarm

Indeed a patch might give the so called Keubner effect, a psoriasis spot over there, so perhaps makes sense not to do that.
But then… in the mean time quitting smoking seems to me like a very hard job. I have totally no experience in that myself as I have never smoked, but I hear it from everyone who stops. Still my granddad, who earnt a living with a cigarette and cigars - shop, back in the past. Did himself stop smoking at his 67th. He just stopped from the one on the other day. Probably because a friend of him died on lungcancer. Finally he lived for another 21 years.
So…. If the need is there, and it is there for you, then it might be doable. So I wish you a lot of strength in doing so !! Thumb Thumb Thumb

Hi KatT. I may have looked like that many years ago but not now for sure. Big Grin
I used to smoke cigars like a chimney but was told that I had to stop so I removed everything related to smoking one day and never smoked again. It was hard but in some ways I think that cutting down makes it more difficult.
I just hope now that you feel better every day and look after yourself.
Take care lots of best wishes.

Like Caroline's grandad I just gave up one day. I got all the tobacco I could find and rolled up a nice long spliff, and whilst smoking myself silly I kept telling myself I would never smoke again.

I also joined a stop smoking forum (sadly gone now) and they were excellent. The got you to start your own thread and said to make at least 1 post per day, every time you posted people would encourage you. Some would be people that had given up a few years and some were just a day in front of you, I ended up staying there for a couple of years encouraging others but they were a victim of their own success and the forum closed.

The biggest piece of advice I got was to always have Cranberry Juice beside you, I hate the stuff but was told to just sip it every time I felt like a smoke. They said it stopped the craving, maybe it was placebo but it worked for me.

If you want to start a thread in off topic I'm sure a lot of us would be here to encourage you. But you do really want to do it for it to work.

I’m glad you are ok - take good care of yourself!

Yeah.. that’s how addiction works.. Wink

Has anyone suggested vaping or would that be just as harmful?

I know someone who smoked heavily for decades, they were offered a free session of hypnotism. Liking a freebie they did it and quit smoking straight away, never smoked another cigarette. I don’t know how often it works but may be worth considering?
