Hi, I'm new to the forum and hope to contribute as well as learn from others.

I have had psoriasis since around age 15 and psoraitic arthritis since around age 23. I've tried many many drugs to help it including Humira which worked amazingly temporarily.

My reason for posting today is, I am always tired and drained feeling and I am wondering if this is caused by my psoriasis? I figure, if a cold or other sickness makes you feel week, then anything else stressing your immune system could do the same, right?

If this is why I always feel like this, is there anything I can do to help it?

Hello chrisj and Welcome to the Psoriasis Club Forum.

Yes Psoriasis can make you feel tired. some days I feel fine and others I feel absolutely shattered, I have found I feel more tired if I have a flare up or the psoriatic arthritis is playing up.

Psoriasis is not a skin problem, it's an autoimmune and inflammation problem and those two things can have an affect on ones stamina. as for what to do to help it, it's difficult. That's a bit like trying to find the cure for psoriasis, but you could try exercise and a good diet to help fight against fatigue. Although personally I can't do that, as I like eating and being lazy. Wink

Are you still using Humira? as that can make you feel tired for a while after a shot.

Hello,

I stopped taking the Humira a few years ago as the doctor said my body was essentially attacking it. It was amazing when it worked, I was able to run up stairs and felt like a totally different person. I had to stop taking it due to a kidney stone and then when I restarted it it worked for a short time and then stopped. I think since then I have kind of given up on treatment, it kind of killed my hopes.

I take one Aleve occasionally when my arthritis is bad, out of all of the NSAIDs I tried its the only one that works. Previously a doctor had me taking 3 Aleve 3 times a day (total of 9) until I realized 1 did the same thing as 9, adding more did not increase relief.

I have aspergers and stress is a common thing in my life though I have been working on controlling it.

Of course asperger and stress can also make you feel tired.
Personally I mostly feel tired after a stressful day of working, then in the evening I go to the gym (sportschool, it's called over here with us), do an hour of intensive spinning and afterwards the power of my body is mine again. I feel totally refreshed and not at all tired anymore.

I have proposed to Fred to do the same, but he did not step into the competition yet. Whip

Well one thing is clear, a week of holidays does make you tired..... I went spinning this evening, but it was quite tiring. I could feel that I have been doing nothing and sunbathing a little bit much.
