Hey everyone,

It's been a very long while. Sorry I have been away. I am struggling for a while with thing going on in my life. Lost my brother in 2021 and lost my dad in 2023. My plaque psoriasis are flaring up. This past July I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and fibromyalgia. Currently onTriamcinolone ointment and methotrexate.

Hi Sarah,

So good to see you back !!
But sad to hear that life is not so easy for you. Very much a pity that Psoriatic Arthritis has also struck you. To my opinion and experience mtx does not work for the PsA, but I also know that some do have luck with it.
Anyway be careful and keep in touch with your rheum so if it doesn’t work you get something else.

Over here everything is going its way. Most of the oldies are still here, only Jim has more or less left because his life took a strong sideway after he lost his wife.
We are all still going strong, hope to hear more from you.

Cheers,
Caroline.

Welcome back.

Are you feeling any side effects while on the Methotrexate?  Are you taking pills or injections?  I hope you get some relief and feel better soon.

Welcome

Hey Sarah great to see you again. It's nice when an old original member pops in, I remember you being here when I first started it and you were always a good member.

So sorry for your family loses, I lost a sister and my mum 5 years ago all within a month of each other and I know it hurts. But time does heal and I'm sure they would want us to carry on.

Sorry to hear you have psoriatic arthritis, as you probably remember I've had it bad over the years but today it's a lot better. I hope they can get you on a good treatment quick.

You take care of yourself, you know where we are but there is a thread you may be interested in [Group Specific] as a long term member.

Fred.

Thank you everyone for the welcome back and condolences. Caroline, methotrexate is what mybr Rheumatologist has started with for now. My next appointment is in December. He did tell me I won't be pain free but he would help keep me comfortable. Forest walker, I haven't had much with side effects on methotrexate. Just some nausea and hair loss. I am taking pills. I am up to 8 pills once a week.

I tried Methotrexate for about five months, but the nausea was too much for me.  I started with pills and went to injections, hoping that would ease the nausea, but it didn't.  Likely, there has been loads more medicinal therapy information added to the club in recent years.  It's such a good resource for all things Psoriasis/Arthritis.  I feel for you with the nausea and hair loss.   Bigarm

I found the nausea came mostly from the folic acid you have to take alongside mtx. They reduced my dose of folic acid and it improved things.
