Hi there,

I've been using Enstilar foam with good results for a while now, but ever since I started using it, I developed a red rash around my nose and chin. At first I though it was down to a milk allergy I have, but I stopped using Enstilar for 3 days and the rash went away. I then started using it again and the rash came back. From looking online, it seems that it's allergic contact dermatitis, caused by Butylated Hydroxytoluene.
Does anyone else have any experience with this? And does anyone know if there's a particular antihistamine that could combat this? I tried using a hydrocortisone directly on the rash, but that didn't do much.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I use Enstiliar now and again on my elbow and behind my ears which clears it up for, usually a long time. It's a very strong steroid and I have found that I can't use a strong steroid for long periods, you also have to keep it well away from your eyes.
Luckily the Stelara is still working well for me and apart from a few odd patches I am clear.

Not used it much myself, but the recommended treatment period is 4 only weeks. Enstilar foam

Your local chemist may have a suggestion for a antihistamine, but I would suggest you try and talk to your dermatologist.

I think allergic reactions should sound a caution because they can become serious.  Perhaps your dermatologist could prescribe a different ointment for you?

Is there a chance you may have coincidentally stopped a certain food or beverage at the same time you paused the Enstilar foam?  Good on you for figuring out a connection.

Take my advice; I don't use it anyway.

Best to contact your doctor for advice just in case it's an allergic reaction.

We all react so differently to things that even if someone had a rash it wouldn't necessarily be the same thing. A rash is a side effect of Enstilar foam so it's possible that's all it is (according to their site). However, since you mention an antihistamine is the rash itchy? If so, I definitely would discontinue use until speaking with your doctor. Actually, I would call and ask anyway as I tend to err on the side of caution.

Personally I didn’t get on with enstillar mainly because the blasted stuff wouldn’t come out of the spray can except in tiny amounts.

I probably wouldn’t continue with it if you seem to be allergic to the ingredients, could you be given something else to try by the doc?
