Great news! I hope it works well for you. Interesting how it’s taken over two months from seeking approval.

No, that one is on me. I was told by the pharmacist to check with the doctor before either getting the shingles vaccine or starting Skyrizi. I got approved before I contacted the doctor so asked them to hold off shipping until then. Doc said it's fine as the current Shingles vaccine is not a live vaccine. Then I decided to not have them ship it during the holidays as we were having packages get held up in major cities for a few days and I worried about that (needlessly it seems but I had issues before with a prescription med getting held up and wasn't sure what temperatures it had reached) So AbbVie very nicely just told me to call when ready and that my approval is good until December 2024. They did say to allow 2 weeks from order to delivery. The two weeks is for them to contact pharmacy to set up an overnight delivery date. I meant to call them the last week of December, but procrastination is in my DNA I think. I mean, I still haven't gotten the shingles vaccine! But I did decide to wait on that until after my initial doses of Skyrizi to make certain there weren't any issues adapting to it (which I don't expect there to be)

My Humira comes with the same little temperature indicator card.  I've never had a problem with the shipping since 2007 when I started it.  It comes in a Styrofoam container with a few freezer packs and has always stayed cool, even the one time when it was a day late because it was held up somewhere along the way.

Over the years, I sometimes had to be home to sign for it and sometimes haven't based on either insurance or pharmacy policy.  If you don't have trouble with package theft where you live, maybe you can persuade them to let you receive it without signature and free up your time.

If your Skyrizi comes with similar packaging, you may find someone who could use the Styrofoam cooler (a fisherman? picnicker?  traveler?) and freezer packs.  You won't have to buy freezer packs ever again.   Smile

I'm hoping this new med helps you quickly and that you enjoy clear skin and healthy body.   Heart

I was on Cosentyx for awhile and got the freezer packs but they didn't have an indicator with them. I still have them as you're right, they start to accumulate! According to the person I spoke with I will get 2 pens the first shipment (starter doses one week apart I think? web site says 3 so we'll see) and ... I think she said 6 for the next shipment which will be good for awhile as after the starter doses I'll only inject every 8 weeks. I don't mind signing for them, as long as they schedule it so I know to be home. It gives me an excuse to stay home all day. Big Grin

I had no problems with my meds, but my dog was on a medication that required it be kept within a certain temperature range. We had freezing temps and it was held up for around 5 days at our local mail distribution center also we had electrical outages. I called and asked the company if it would be safe as I wouldn't know what the temps were that it was being kept at and they told me not to use and sent a replacement. That was a bit of an odd situation. Most centers probably keep their temps in about the same range as a home but I've heard where sometimes trucks don't get unloaded, etc during holidays due to the large amount of shipments.

I ordered my daughter a pair of boots for Christmas. Perfect description of looking like the box got hit by a truck, but they were fine.

I am going to start a new thread now since I received my Skyrizi today. I think there is some information here that is .. informative so I don't want to delete this thread but Fred it's up to you if you want to delete, clean up move elsewhere or rename. Tongue

I will add this here:

The first biologic I was on was Stelara and I went to an infusion center for it (don't know why they just sent me there)

Cosentyx was next and so far (including my package from AbbVie today with the Skyrizi) the starter pack was by far the best! I received the injector pens, a handy travel case, a booklet showing how to inject and what to expect (I did get paperwork with the others but not nearly as nice!) And also they sent me a sharpie disposal container with a prepaid box to return empty pens and they auto shipped me a new empty container with a prepaid box to return it in right away after shipping them back the first one. So Novartix and Cosentyx remain so far my favorite as far as an introductory packet. I was also on Taltz after Cosentyx but didn't receive much from them either. Okay off to start my new Skyrizi thread. Big Grin
