Hi all - I was looking for any info as to whether or not common side effects of bimzelx - wear off - go away!
Best wishes to Fred - I really hope your treatment makes you better.
My own story is that I am an allergic type - Im the awkward one who always gets those 'rare' side effects!

I have had 2 loading doses so far of Bimzelx and I have not taken my third one - I am told I can skip a dose and take the next one when I feel better...

mmm...when I feel better....my story is below - not necessary to read! its just a brief history in time - of infections...

My question is lovely people - is there anyone out there who has had similar common side effects with bimzelx - and...did they wear off? Im just getting zero help from the people running the study Im on - or the dermatologists - I feel like Im being kept in the dark...the manufactrures and so called yellow card scheme must surely have data? after all - they state the side effects....maybe I should go to them?
any tips greatly apprecitated - Ive been so ill I just dont know whether to continue this or not...

best wishes

since starting bioligics in february - Ive had 4 loads of anti biotics for infections - one a throat thing the others UTI's.
Ive been in a lot of pain with un diagnosed stomach and digestion problems so await test results for IBS and coeliac. Oh I also have medication now for oral thrush.... I had an allergic reaction to amgevita and started bimzelx in April this year. Ive felt ill ever since...this is not me!

Hello redsquirrel  Welcome to Psoriasis Club and thank you for the best wishes.  Thumb

*I changed your title as we already have one for Bimzelx here: Bimzelx (bimekizumab)

I have found with all the Bio's it takes time for your body to get used to them, when it does the side effects get better or worse. Most dermatologists will change after 12 weeks if there is no improvement or you are still getting side effects you can't cope with.

4 lots of antibiotics sounds a lot to me and I'm wondering if it could have an effect on Bimzelx working, but you have not finished the loading doses so it's going to be difficult to tell.

Oral thrush is one of the side effects.

Disappointing they are not monitoring you properly, they should be and to be honest I would demand that they do so as it's still a new treatment.

Have you tried Stelara you may be more tolerant to that or another Bio.

I hope you get sorted soon.

Regards,

Fred.

I haven't been on Bimzelx nor have I had issues with side effects from the biologics I tried so afraid I'm not much help.

But like Fred said, they should be monitoring you and also there are other biologics they can try that you may tolerate better.

Good luck and Welcome!

First of all, hello Red Squirrel .

Welcome to the mad house.

I’m sorry to say this but I’ve never heard of bimzelx so I cannot be of much use, sorry.

With the oral thrush, painful giblets etc, speak to your dermatologist or GP and tell them what’s happening to you.

Good luck Red Squirrel

Hi, redsquirrel.  Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

The bladder, urinary tract, bowel, rectum are all packed in together closely in the body.  Sometimes, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD, not Irritable Bowel Syndrome-IBS) can affect bladder and urinary tract.  IBD can be diagnosed via colonoscopy with biopsy.  I hope the colonoscopy will be one of your tests.  I have IBD and would be happy to answer any digestive questions via private message.

As for Bimzelx, I hope you will find lots of information here in the club.  I've learned so much here.  This is a place with many resources.  You've already found Fred's journey with Bimzelx.

I hope you feel better soon.

I have had a couple of infections which I don’t think I would have had without the bios and other medication - a nasty tooth abscess after dental work (was on methotrexate), oral thrush which was not in my mouth but all the way down my throat and very painful, cellulitis on my shin after an insect bite.
These things could have been coincidence but they were things I’d never had before. I’ve been on a good few bios now and they seem to carry equal risk.
It does sound like you are having more than your fair share of issues.

Hi Red Squirrel and a warm  Welcome  welcome to the club, I am lucky to have never progressed to biological treatments yet, but it sounds to me as if Bimzelx is not right for you if you are experiencing so many side effects, I would be inclined to see if you can change the bio you are on and use one of the older ones as Fred suggested , from my memory Stelara seems to be well tolerated by most of our members that have used it
Enjoy your time here and look around the off topic section if you need your spirits lifted there are some very interesting and some funny threads to join in or just browse
Good luck and I hope you get some relief soon
