Eating nuts is very good.

BUT…. No Peanuts or nuts baked in peanut-oil. ..

Al normal nuts, walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, all non-processed nuts are really great. I do eat them almost every day.. Big Grin

But peanuts are good for you. Good for your heart, reducing inflammation, and a good source of fiber. Peanut oil...not good for you. Peanut butter has a lot of protein and a lot of calories. You have to watch out on the additives when it comes to peanut butter. The preferred ingredients would be one with only peanuts and salt or only peanuts. Cooked peanuts? depends on who you ask. Boiled peanuts have nearly four times more antioxidant isoflavones than the other kinds of peanuts which can reduce cancer, diabetes and heart disease risks.

I live in Georgia which (and I quote) "is the number-one peanut-producing state in the country, accounting for approximately 49 percent of the crop’s national acreage and production" So I have to offer a little bit of defense to peanuts. Tongue However, I don't grow them, make any money off them nor consider them one of my favorite food sources so really... I have no need to defend them. Big Grin

Just pointing out how confusing it is when it comes to diet and what one person says vs another. You say no peanuts and my dietician advised me to eat them. It's confusing to me as I respect both of you. But I also just don't have time to research every single thing I eat. And even then you can usually find some people who say one thing and other people saying something different. Confused

And same with treatments. It makes sense as people tend to push what has worked well for them either in diet or treatment and it's also natural to not give good reviews on things that didn't work for them or that they had a reaction to. It's amazing to me at how our bodies can react differently to things!

Okay. I see your point.
And yes, peanuts are healthy, lots of young dutch grow up with peanut butter, we even have hilarious advertisements in favor of them.

So. Yes… but not if you have psoriasis, as peanuts are normally baked and enhance the forming of pyruvic acid which is an important cause of Psoriatic Arthritis.
I only heard this from the doctor who has been treating thousands of Psoriasis patients and this diet advice is already around here in NL yet forty years old.

Still it can happen that it would not affect you, but it is the result of years of practical feedback from psoriasis patients.

Good to know! Again, I'm not really in favor or against the poor peanuts. Snigger I personally haven't noticed good nor bad psoriasis related when eating them.

A lot of talk about peanuts! I like peanuts but I don't eat much of them. No doubt there are foods I eat that contain peanut oil that I'm unaware of, but cutting out actual peanuts is very easy so for time being they are gone! Ppl say peanuts have health benefits and I'm sure they do but other nuts like walnuts and cashews are supposedly even healthier.

I'm recovering from a kind of bad cold right now. My gf got allergy symptoms for 3 days but it hit me harder. I still have Tremfya in my system and I'm on Otezla. Both inhibit your immune system in different ways so I'm getting double screwed! I had covid really bad early 2020 (was on Otezla at the time) and got it again 6 months ago and had cold like systems (was on Otezla then too). My body knows how to deal with covid so I'm not worried about that.

Do you guys get more upper respiratory infections since you've started these medicines? It's sometimes hard to discern from manufacturer statements when they claim 1.2 vs 1.7 compared to placebo. Know what I mean?

I have a dermatologist appt Mon and PCP appt Tues to discuss all of the info you guys have given me! I have a list of like 10 drugs to ask about. This site is such a huge storage of info I'm having trouble getting everything straight lol.

Another thing I would really like to talk about is Ps related lethargy and depression. If anyone has experience with those issues can you please pm me?

Never had any respiratory problems on bio's. I wouldn't read too much in to the manufacturers claims, most are just legal things they have to put to get approval. It doesn't mean you will get those problems, and even if you do it's usualy just a matter of stopping the treatment.

You are welcome to start other threads if you wish, we do also have a thread for members only about depression here: [Group Specific] or you could try the Search facility.

Good luck with your appointment.

When I was on biologics I didn't notice any increase in colds/flu/allergy type symptoms etc.

I think most drug warnings are for insurance purposes to keep them from being sued. Otherwise why would anyone take the ones that say "may cause death" unless you already had been told you had a short time left??

But my favorite drug warnings are the ones that say "don't take x if you are allergic to x" it's like Doh

There is a ton of info here, don't let it overwhelm you Smile

My daughter and granddaughter both have had sinus issues this week. Spring is close (well if the weather would only cooperate) so seems it's time for allergies to kick in. Confused

I'm trying to remain open minded. Let's say you get a new furnace and you get 2 colds and more headaches than usual,  human nature is the blame the new furnace, even though most likely it's just a coincidence!

My problem is I have like a million new issues so it's hard to pick what is Ps related or what is potentially psychosomatic or just normal aches and pains. I'm 41yo, not 14, I'm not a spring chicken anymore lol

I totally understand and can relate to having a million issues and trying to figure out what is related to what! At 41.... you're still young, isn't 40's the new 30's?? I remember however telling my doctor back when I was in my 40's that I was tired of feeling like I was in my 60's Confused So I get that as well.

I got a really bad cold when I started one of the biologics I've tried.  Then my rheumatologist increased the dose about a year later (he put me on half a dose by mistake) and got extremely sick again.

Was prescribed puffers, prednisone and antibiotics to get rid of it.  The GP I saw for that even ordered a pulmonary test, which they did 3 months later when everything was back to normal.
