Sounds scary to me  Confused  But most things medical sound scary to me.

Smile nothing to be scared of..
your whole body works because of Basically chemical reactions. Food is processed into material that is able to give energy to your cells so they can live. Very very normal. The number of reactions is gigantic. It can be easily be guessed that not every reaction will work perfectly. E.g. with aging I guess things will change. Processes that do not work perfectly is no problem, but they can give rise to unfinished elements of reactions, garbage in fact.

Looked up mitochondrial disease - I would think you’d definitely know if you had that..

Well… with psoriasis… Nobody looks in that direction. I have never ever heard a derm speak about it.
The only one I heard about it, was an internist, probably as he is looking much more to the internal person and the processes of the body.
You must admit that nobody seems to know the cause of psoriasis.
Yes… immune system goes berserk, but how and why?
Yes… all kind of cytokines are involved, and if we suppress them, it goes better. But where do they come from? Why do they at all get so high?
Yes… probably genes are involved, but why ? How? What effects do they cause and why?
We know the results and several steps in between, but we don’t know the cause..

But that's just it... nobody knows the cause yet.

Right! and this doc I know is pointing at the mitochondria, which makes sense, as a lot of symptoms and problems can be explained from this point of view. Big Grin But now someone needs to be so clever to do some goed research and validate that.

Yes BUT.... nobody knows the cause yet Tongue

To me a lot of things make sense (although medical stuff doesn't really Big Grin ) I just personally tend to like a bit more absolutes when it comes to this or that definitely causes and/or helps with that or this. Again, I think it's common sense that what we eat can contribute to many MANY things when it comes to health, ailments, diseases, etc. (to get back on subject) AND I think we're all different. If I came on here and said I took "Drug X" and it "cured" me........ well wouldn't you want more proof than just I haven't had a flare up since I started Drug X? I know I would. As for what causes (and it may be more than one thing) psoriasis.... the jury is still out on that one for now.

I think there is no jury for this. There is no voting no formal decisions of people, no judge can decide.
Only Science and research counts.
And for research you need a hypothesis to investigate. And I think there is a solid one. Not by me because my medication works for me.
No from a real doctor with many years of experience in medicine, he has even been teaching in the U.S. Smile . The only thing is that he has a different approach, other than mainstream, but on a solid and logical basis.

The jury is out is simply a saying meaning nothing is conclusive. Of course literally this is not something decided in court, sorry if that was confusing.

And so far nothing is conclusive, no matter if logical. I do not have a clue what the different doctors and scientists who have studied (many years) have to say about it. Smile I'm sure some agree and some disagree and perhaps one day there will be enough proof that they come together and say AH!! And then they can perhaps find a cure.

You have a much more scientific mind than I do Caroline so I tend to look at things different I think. I need simplicity to understand certain things. But back to diet, I will always agree that it has an effect on many things, some we know and some we don't know yet as once you live long enough you find that science also tends to change how it views things. (Eggs for instance, used to be good food, then bad and now.... depends. Just using that as a very simple example) We are always learning. Smile

Hi Jonjon,

The different diets disagree on some subjects. I went for the AIP diet, which is a strict version of Paleo. Almost cleared! Meat is ok but try to make sure it's grassfed. This makes it way more expensive but you could opt for smaller portions. I think it's because soy and grains are a staple animal feed which you will end up consuming when having such meat. I think I'm not clear yet because I 'have to' cheat a bit now that I live on a building site without a proper kitchen. Look up REMOVED, she's quite clear on what to eat/not to eat.

Artemie I have removed the name you mentioned see my edit to your post above. If anyone wants it you can talk via PM, but the website is advertising and others could argue that I have allowed the promotion of another website which is against our rules.
