Hello everyone.  I have had psoriasis for about 4 months now.  It was isolated to my eyelid for the first three months, but here lately it has appeared along my hairline, my chin and now my other eyelid is inflammed.  After doing some research I believe this popped up due to my getting a yeast infection from bathing in a bath tub.  I always take showers, but I thought I would give a shot at a "detox bath," and unfortunately for me the bath tub must have not been clean.  Right away I started having symptoms of a yeast infection.  I haven't had one for over 20 years, but when you get one, you know it immediately.  At the time I did not realize the correlation, but at some point after that, my eyelid starting flaring up.  I thought it was a reaction to make-up, but I hadn't made any cosmetic changes.  The skin started to peel off so then I started thinking it was something else, which led me to psoriasis.

My research has led me to conclude that the yeast infection went "wild" (candida) compromised my gut, giving me leaky gut, allowed pathogens into my bloodstream, which were then emitted via my skin and caused psoriasis.  So therefore my goal is to kill the candida, heal my gut and hopefully the psoriasis will go away.

My plan will start with a 2-3 day bone broth cleanse.  To the broth I can add a combination of broccoli, cauliflower, onions, garlic and spices such as turmeric, rosemary, sea salt and black pepper.  The bone broth has amino acids which helps to heal the gut and also to help remove toxins built up in the digestive tract.  Dr. Pagano suggests colonics and/or enemas, which I am adverse to, so I will go with the food inducing cleanse instead.

After the cleanse, I will then begin what amounts to a candida diet program.  I will also eliminate the nightshade family of foods which Dr. Pagano suggests are possible psoriasis triggers.  Nightshade foods include: white potatoes, tomatoes, okra, eggplant, tobacco, peppers (excluding black pepper), paprika and cayenne.

Here is my food list (I will try to do organic when possible):

vegetables: artichokes, zucchini, asparagus, avocado, spinach, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, onions, garlic, cauliflower, celery, collard greens, kale, romaine lettuce, olives (no white vinegar)

meat: grass fed beef, chicken, turkey, eggs, sockeye salmon, lamb

nuts/seeds: almonds, flax seeds, hazelnuts, pine nuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds

grains: quinoa, millet, buckwheat, almond flour, coconut flour

herbs/spices: basil, black pepper, cilantro, cinnamon, cloves, cumin, dill, ginger, nutmeg, oregano, rosemary, thyme, turmeric, sea salt

oils: extra virgin olive oil, sesame oil, virgin coconut oil, grass fed butter

seasonings: lemon juice, raw organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar, coconut aminos, organic chicken bone broth

beverages: filtered water, unsweetened almond/coconut milk, peppermint tea, ginger tea, pau d'arco tea, licorice tea

sweeteners: stevia that does not have maltodexterin, dextrose or sugar alcohols.  Whole leaf stevia.

dairy: unsweetened grass fed yogurt, unsweetened grass fed kefir.

I also plan on taking daily:

Supplements:  fish oil, collagen, ashwagandha, probiotics

Vitamins: C, D, E, folic acid, biotin

Minerals: Zinc

I wish you great success with the diet and really hope it works as well for you as it did for Allan ...I will look forward to reading how it works for you .....as I said earlier Allan started when he had only had psoriasis a short time ...so as you are new to psoriasis perhaps you can nip it in the bud as well ... Thumb

Can I ask have you tried any conventional treatments before embarking on this plan

I look forward to your next update

I will put a note about this in our free monthly newsletter where it will be read by even more members ....if you don't already subscribe you are welcome to subscribe to the Groups

I have not tried any conventional treatments for psoriasis.  I am afraid of trying the pharmaceutical route so after doing my research (Dr. Pagano), I opted for diet instead.  It will also give me a chance to see how my body reacts to not having dairy, gluten, grains, sugar, high sugar fruits, starchy vegetables, nightshades, alcohol, caffeine or junk food.

Hello everyone.  I am hosting Easter dinner for my extended family, so I am delaying my start of the plan until after Easter dinner.  In the meantime I have been doing more research and testing food options.

I love Siggi's yogurt, which is a grass fed variety.  Usually I get the fruit added ones, but as this diet is low on sugar I will have to opt for the plain, no sugar added one.  I just tried it and got the idea to add lemon with a little Stevia (1/8 tsp) to make my own lemon yogurt, and I have to say I was delightfully surprised at how awesome it tasted!  I also love lime, so I plan on testing it out with lime, especially key lime.  Lime and lemon are very, very low sugar fruits, so it is okay to use lemon and lime as flavor enhancers during the diet.

I also tried bone broth concoctions for my cleanse.  Please note that bone broth is not the same as regular chicken of beef broth, it needs to have the word "bone" in it, so as to get the nutrients from the bones that are beneficial for the gut.  Regular broth has lots of additives like SUGAR! and other things which are not allowed on the diet.  Bone broth by itself is rather bland, but when you add vegetables to it and let it simmer, the result is a lovely soup.  My favorite is 2 cups organic chicken bone broth, 1/2 small onion (sliced thin), 1 whole clove of garlic, 5 cauliflower florets (halved), black pepper, pink Himalayan salt and herbes de provence or rosemary.  I let is simmer for 30-45 minutes, throw out the garlic clove and the resultant soup is very flavorful.  I tried the same basic recipe with broccoli, but did not find it qppetizing, so I will stick with the cauliflower bone broth concoction for my 2-3 day cleanse.

Additionally, I have further read up on the diet, and some say to hold off on adding nuts and seeds to the diet as they could have mold, which would be detrimental to the diet.  They say to hold off on them until your symptoms have subsided, then to add them slowly.  So, I will omit nuts and seeds from my stage 1 part of the diet.

Oops, I meant to say that the one exception on the nuts and seeds is buckwheat. which is okay in stage one.  I have never tried it, but supposedly it is very similar to rice and can be used as a rice substitute.  Some people can be allergic to it though, so I will monitor how my body reacts to it.

D (diet) day has arrived.  I am starting my new regimen with either a 2 or 3 day cleanse. I may have to go for just the 2 days, as I weigh only 113 pounds and don't have much fat left to lose.  For breakfast I had my bone broth concoction and since then have had four 8 oz glasses of filtered water.  I plan on doing the same for lunch and dinner.

I also had one cup of pau d'arco tea (for the first time) and found that it tasted okay.  Some people don't like the taste.  I am going to start off slow on this, (one cup a day) as too much too quick can lead to rapid die off, which leaves people having flu like symptoms.

Also, I want to point out that for the past week I eliminated all nightshade foods from my diet and found in the past few days a good improvement on the raised, red, peeling patches on my eyelids.  The redness is almost gone and I can feel just a little scaliness left.  The same goes for the patch I had on my chin.

The worst areas are along my hairline, next to my temples, they remain unchanged.  The other problem spot is a patch next to my right eye, where my crows feet are.  That patch is less inflamed, but it is still red and scaly.

So we are off to a good start just by eliminating the nightshades from my diet.   Smile

Bone broth concoction:  2 cups organic chicken bone broth, 1/2 sliced onion, 2 cloves garlic, 3 cauliflower florets, black pepper, pink Himalayan salt, herbs d provence, simmered for 1/2 hour

Sounds good, just be careful and make sure you are getting enough food to sustain you. As you say you haven’t much fat to lose. I’m sure you know what you are doing. I wish you success Thumb
