Gundry claims that, of 800 people who followed his diet, after 6 months everybody was cured (forum rules won't let me post the link).

I have been following his protocol for 4 months now and still have psoriasis. The first 3 months, I may have unintentionally cheated when eating out, and ate rice, possibly too much fruit, and drank vodka. The past 3 weeks I have followed it down to a tee with no remarkable improvement and I am tempted to give it up.

When have others given up or been cleared?

I asked my dermatologist about diet when I first saw him, and he said there was nothing that had been proven to help.
I would have thought if psoriasis could be sorted out by a special diet, we’d all be put on it by our doctors first of all.
I might be wrong though I guess..

I agree TL There are many claims about cures. But I think if it was as simple as diet ( I’m not saying diet is wrong) but if it was that simple, you are right to  think that diet would be prescribed by mainstream medicine as it is for diabetes ?
If it was “curable” by diet alone and there was scientific proof. I’m sure we would all change our lifestyles to be clear of the disease. But going back in history Psoriasis has been with us for centuries and I’m sure diet has changed over time but Psoriasis has not  Thumb

Crustymug, Lets try to be realistic and statistically sound.
We are dealing with a complex disease. There are very many different types of psoriasis.
Of the people who have the same type, not everyone is reacting the same to identical medications. E.g. people are reacting very differently to the differenc biologicals that are currently available. What works for the one, doesn’t work for the other.

We know that food is an important factor, and many of us have tried to reduce the intake of certain foods, with changing succes. On the board we only have two to three members who really have benefit with a strong diet.
The others don’t

Now there is someone who claims that his diet used with 800 people has a 100% result.........
think of it. It is a diet. There is no scientific base. There is no research which is at least based at existing publications. There are no peer reviews (I bet).

Even in hard scientific reseach there is never a 100% fitting result. Nothing in the world is 100%, except for some mathematics formula's.

I am not surprised that it does not work for you. It certainly is good that you tried, but unfortunately this is probably not working for you. You have a different body, different DNA and you react differently on this diet.
You might try alan540's diet, you may have a chance. But don’t be disappointed if it does not work.

That's a really good reply Caroline, and statistics is the way I always try to look at things.

No there are no peer reviews.

You said only 2-3 members have had benefit from a really strong diet on these boards. As I am new to the boards, roughly how many people have not had success?
And do you have an idea what diets they tried (roughly how many were AI, elimination, paleo, gundry)?

Also, I do not have enough posts to view alan540's diet if somebody would be kind enough to PM it to me.

Thanks all Smile

He can see it as it's in the public boards. Jim has posted a link above.

We don’t keep statistics on any treatment. Overall we have kind of a gut feeling based on results and on the journals the members are making about their treatment.

If you want you can make kind of a poll yourself and members will answer.
And if you access the first page of Alan’s treatment, through the link Jim mentioned, you can go to the bottom and you will see related threads about food and diet. See the picture below on what you should see.

You can also see from this picture, that very many are interested in Alan’s progress and approach.

Lots of us have tried to cut on certain foods in order to find out if it has some result on their Psoriasis. It might be a nice subject for a poll to check on who tried, who had some result, who failed.
I myself tried to cut on a number of specific foods advised by my very experienced doctor, without any effect.

The Gundry diet seeks to eliminate lectins. The evidence is that lectins make little difference for most people, so to claim a 100% cure rate for psoriasis is dishonest. I am deliberately taking a lectin in an attempt to increase my lymphocyte count. I hope it works as it would be especially satisfying to be helped by a substance that the alternative health crowd advise against.

Cheers
