I felt embarrassed by it in my younger days, but as I got older it didn't bother me as much. Now I'm not embarrassed by it at all, I'm happy to show people and talk about it. But having said that I don't have mush psoriasis to show these days thanks to the Bio's.

So I will tick the box "Shrug it off and not feel embarrassed"

It's the same for me.  I used to try and hide it, not wearing skirts, dresses or shorts but at a certain time in my increased wiseness, I told myself the hell with it!

Some looked. Some asked questions which I was happy to answer.  Some asked advice as they also had psoriasis or had a close one suffering with psoriasis.

My psoriasis is now back and keeps growing....still wearing dresses, skirts and shorts.  Going to public beaches for a swim  Thumb

I have a tiny spot on my face which is barely noticeable and I hope it goes away.  Not sure how I would react if it expands or I get more on my face  Confused

Mostly I try and educate people rather than getting embarrassed I did try and cover up when I had a particularly bad flare though.

I have felt embarrassed at the pool, not because I’m worried about what people think but because of noticeable reactions they’ve had when they see my skin! Up to which point I hadn’t really even thought about it..

Tough one to answer. I used to be very embarrassed by it but not so much any more.

I went with "try to hide it" since I feel I'm constantly either brushing flakes off my shirt or off the chair I was sitting in. Confused I do get embarrassed at someone's home and try to not sit on upholstered fabrics. I also don't like riding in anyone else's vehicle for the same reason. At times when I get out the seat is covered with flakes I left behind.

As far as looks goes, mine is mostly hidden since it's the neck and behind or on the ears (sometimes in front of the ears) but hair hides it so it's not really noticeable but even if it was, I'm not so embarrassed by the red patches if someone sees them. It's mostly the "shedding" that really bugs me when it comes to embarrassment.

I came to the conclusion early doors that if other people had any problems then they were their problems not mine , never be afraid to be different.

I always felt embarrassed that I had the unsightly plaques. I hid it as much as possible but was always embarrassed when visiting places and leaving trail of snow behind me. I dreaded going to the hairdressers and would never uncover on a public beach or go to a swimming pool till I got clearance. To get myself clear each spring I would try to get as much sunlight on deserted beaches as I could and used lots of steroid creams  before venturing out to public  venues . I now talk openly about having it but in my younger days I thought I was alone with this affliction so hid it as much as I could by wearing light clothes and long sleeves and trousers.
It wasn't until I joined this forum that I found out just how common psoriasis is and realised how many people must be good at hiding it

I don't find psoriasis embarrassing.  It is just who I am and just a condition I have for whatever reason.  It may seem I might be embarrassed by it because it looks like I am hiding it.  But I have found wearing certain clothes over the psoriasis can make it feel better.  I am all for whatever makes the skin feel good Smile

I was really bad especially in the early days in fact I spent three spells in hospital, I was running half of UK at that time. This was in the late 70s onwards and my attitude was ,if you don't like it then that's your problem not mine.
