OBI, what is the formulation of Skilarence? So much for the manufacturer claiming gastro-resistant tablets. Are you sure it is your stomach being irritated? I reduce my side effects by drinking plenty of water in the hours before dosing and taking the drug after a meal so it will mix well with my stomach contents.

Cheers

Bill,

Skilarence has a stomach resistant coating. Obi has intestine cramps.
Inside are (in Dutch but I think readable)
Lactosemonohydraat Microkristallijne cellulose Croscarmellose natrium Colloïdaal watervrij silica Magnesiumstearaat

Pssssssst: Skilarence

Quote:
What Skilarence 120 mg contains
- the active substance is dimethyl fumarate. One tablet contains 120 mg dimethyl fumarate. - the other ingredients are: lactose monohydrate, cellulose microcrystalline, croscarmellose
sodium, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer (1:1), talc, triethyl citrate, titanium dioxide (E171), simethicone, indigo carmine (E132) and sodium hydroxide.

Thank you Fred and Caroline. The longer I self-treat the less I feel that I could benefit from the expertise of the pharmaceutical industry by doing otherwise. OBI, you might like to write to Almirall and tell them how crap their Skilarence is compared to Fumaderm. It will be interesting to see whether Jim fares better: At least he is already on DMF, so he will not have to get used to it.

Cheers

Good luck, Jim. I doubt you will have a problem, especially as I am taking 530mg of the raw stuff per dose with little problem.

Cheers

Good luck with the Skilarence Jim.

I'm hoping you will be able to set me some pointers after I have seen the Dermy in August and convinced them it may be the way to go.

I would ask for it John  Thumb I don't think I'm going to have any problem, I will start the first week with one less tablet a day in case for any reason there's a reaction
If you do get it you will have to start on the 30mg tablets and build up gently to minimise the expected side effects  Thumb

Ok here I go

So 9am today I have started the Skilarence tablets we will see later today if they have any side effects for me

Dose will be same as I was on with fumaderm 3x120mg tablets in the morning with breakfast
And 2x 120mg tablets in the evening with my evening meal

I had my bloods done at the beginning of the month and my lymphocyte count was at 1.08 so far enough inside the normal ( between 1.00 and 3.00) to be happy

So it's wait and see what happens, and I'm hoping nothing will change
I will update regularly with any changes I notice
