They go after a different target in your body. It's a bit difficult to explain, but today most Bio's aim for the IL (interleukin) as they are finding they give better results.

You can read more about them here: Biological Treatments For Psoriasis

If you have a choice between the two I would suggest going for Stelara.

Humira is a TNF blocker, TNF stands for Tumor Necrosis Factor. It is a pathway that is connected to Psoriasis, if you block this pathway, the Psoriasis will go down with most people. Unfortunately also most people develop anti-bodies against it. So it is a treatment that will not last, for most, some lucky people can stay longer on it.
Stelara is an Interleukine inhibitor, that means that Stelara binds on the IL-23 receptors of the cell’s, because of this block the expression of Psoriasis on the skin and often also the Psoriactic Arthritis will go at bay.

From my own experience I ended up in hospital for a week whilst on Humira, I had a reaction to it and ended up like a lobster. Stelara on the other hand gave me over 6 years with hardly any problems, I only moved to Cosentyx because Stelara was no longer helping the psoriatic arthritis. But that is just me and we are all different.

I wouldn’t say there are serious side effects with Humira, but most of our members that have tried it end up failing.

Stelara also has the advantage of helping with Crohn's which I think is something you need going by the thread title.

There is usually someone about, if not it won't be long before someone answers.  Smile

Good luck with your choice, and don't hesitate to start a new thread about your journey in Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis if you wish.

I think it's a wise decision they are both approved for Crohn's disease but from what I've read Stelara will give better results and hopefully work longer

Yep there's usually someone not to far away on the forum Thumb so never hesitite to come on for a chat
