My dermatologist just told me about HUMIRA today and said that's where I would start if I started biologics. What are some of the side effects that have been tested for? This is the first time I've considered something other than topicals, but I don't know much about it. Any knowledge would be appreciated.

He said it would weaken the immune system, any clarity would be great in the form of numbers or anything!

Hello Shark and Welcome

Humira like all the bio treatments do lower your immune system. however having said that, I have tried Remicade, Enbrel, Humira, and at the moment I'm on Stalara and have been on bio's for about 5 years now without any problems. I do occasional get a flu like feeling or slight headaches after injections but it doesn't last long and you soon get used to it. I have found all the bio treatments to be great as they have given me my life back.

I did have a reaction to Humira, and Remicade. Enbrel just stopped working for me and this is something I'm now noticing with Stelara. it seems to be working not so well as it used to, but it could be down to the time of year.

Like all treatments it could take a while to find the right bio for you, but in my opinion they are worth it. Thumb

Have a look through this thread, it lists the top 5 bio's and has a list of things to look out for. Humira is the first one on the list.  Biological Treatments For Psoriasis

NOTE: Patients should be checked for tuberculosis (TB) before taking Biologicals and you should have regular blood tests.

Hope it helps, keep us informed on your progress.

Regards

Fred.
