I’m glad to hear that taltz has got you clear, I hope that it continues to keep working for you  .... it is life changing I agree getting clearance. So it’s always good to hear success stories .... Taltz seems to be proving a very successful treatment

Thanks Jim, it definitely has given me a new lease on life from this debilitating disease! I just come back from visiting my dad in Florida and he remarked that last February he remembered that I wore long skirts and 3/4 length sleeves - this trip I proudly wore shorts and sleeveless tops!

I hope all my fellow sufferers can find similar relief with whatever treatment works best for them.

Thanks for your reply. I should probably provide some type of an update by this point.  All of the shots that I have done recently have not had the same effect with the rash and the burning in the pain. I’ve been doing pretty well. I’m probably about 75% clear. The best I’ve been in years. You can still tell were some of the bad patches were but they are light pink and I’m imagining that they will eventually disappear as well.  Now if I could just get my insurance company to approve regular doses I’d be all set but that’s a whole different story now is isn’t it.

That’s good news that it’s working. Do they only approve regular doses if it’s working on you? Or even if it’s working, do you struggle to get them to fund the maintenance dose?
I go back to my derm (nhs) after the 12 week loading period and if she doesn’t think it’s working I’ll get taken off it.

As to the painful injection - I find it’s ok in the stomach area, I did it once in the thigh and it was so painful, plus I got a reaction there which was hot and swollen for days, like a bad insect bite. But I haven’t had any reaction on the stomach area.

Hi FredM , welcome to the forum , I take the Stelara and even after 5 years it's still working OK so it just shows how different we all are and how what works for one does not work for another. I just hope that the latest medication works well for you and continues to do so , have a good look around and ask any questions that you need to know as the inmates will answer truthfully from their own experience . Fred does not allow adverts so you can be sure that there will be nobody trying to sell you anything. Best of luck Dave

I am not getting approved for anything. They were covering my Stelara though. While the doctor's office and my insurance duke it out, Taltz has a program that will help me get it with a very reasonable copay. I am in the process of getting that now.

My last two injections have been rash/pain/reaction free. I leave the injection out for 45 minutes to an hour then inject about 4 inches or so on either side of the belly button. The thigh was the most painful. For days I was sore. The insect bite reaction is a good way to explain it but the size of the reaction was of a softball for me. Very uncomfortable. My derm told me to take Benadryl a day before my injections and day of to see if that helped and it has.
