I've read there is a member on this forum that is clear with just one tablet a day. Who is this?

William Mateychuck. 120mg once every three days, or maybe 120 mg every four days. Not much in either case. You need to build up the dose to treat the illness, but then your dermatologist will see how much the dose can be reduced while keeping the disease in check. My disease has progressively become less active with treatment. I am currently taking a break from treatment and notice improvement from my last break a year ago.

Oh that's brilliant. That's the dream, to be able to control this unfair condition with such a small dose. I'm hoping this might be the case for me as I know relatively speaking my psoriasis isn't as bad or as thick as some poor people out there. But we are all different (still can't quite believe light therapy didn't help whatsoever) so we'll see.  

Jiml, I have seen you say across many threads that the only side effects you now get are the odd flush. Specifically how often is that now?

So my Fumaderm arrived in clinic yesterday for me to pick up. Was going to start it yesterday but it'll be this evening instead with a good meal, some greek yoghurt and plenty of water. I'll let you know how I feel tomorrow after my first dose and also keep this thread updated from time to time with my progress.

If you are really worried about flushings, you can use aspirin, real aspirin. But I would not use it everyday. So I’d inform your colleagues and take aspirin when you have an important meeting etc. 

That said, my flushes took 10-12 hours after the meds, so only had them in the evening and during the night, so most of the time I slept through them

When should the aspirin be taken? It's not something I'll use very often but it sounds like something that can be handy if it's likely a flush may come on during a time you'd really rather it didn't.

Great that your tablets have arrived ....I hope your dermatologist has given you the dosing regime so you do the build up according to the manufacturers recomendation. Are you on the initial tablets ?

You ask how often I get flushes now .......it's difficult to really say for certain I got so used to them that I barely notice them these days, but I guess I get a red face about once a week, but often get a warm feeling without colouring up which is really not worth mentioning, it's like standing with your back to a fire and feeling a glow go through you

The real hot flushes when I started started with a tingling in the head and slowly the fire spread like a bad embarrassment ...then after a few minutes it subsided

You are better prepared for what might or might not happen than I was ......I was given the tablets and  told when and what dose to take but was not warned of the side effects that came as a total shock and the instruction leaflet was in German

Oh ensure that your bloods are taken regularly and ask for a copy of the results ...as you see in my journal I keep a table of the relevant numbers so I can see if I need to discuss changes with the dermatologist

Oh man, that must have been a shock not knowing of the side effects! I imagine with no prewarning the flushing may have been a bit scary too!

Yeah I've been given the initial tablets and the full strength ones and had the dosing explained to me. One a day of the initial for a week, then two for a week and then 3. Also got all my forms for the blood work too and I will be sure to ask for copies of the results too. Thanks Jiml.
