I found a Scam site using some text from Psoriasis Club and hotlinking to one of our images.
I'm not going to mention the site, but you know the sort. The ones that promise to cure your psoriasis by getting you to click links so thy can get a payment from you just looking. Or the ones that offer the amazing Ebook at a special knock down price that will cure you in just a couple of weeks.
One of those scumbag affiliates has taken a copy of text from some of our mixed posts and jumbled them together to make up an incomprehensible page about psoriasis in the hope of getting traffic from google. They had also hotlinked to one of our images without asking our permission (hotlinking is where they place one of our images on their website but the image is still hosted on our server) it's a dirty trick as they are using resources that we are paying for.
So I changed the image they were using from this:
To this:
I since then have tracked down where the site was hosted and it was on a free host that has a reputable name. So I contacted them and explained that one of their customers were scamming people with psoriasis and taking copy and paste from our website as well as hotlinking to one of our images without permission.
I'm pleased to say that they have pulled the site and thrown their customer out.
So the morel of the story is:
#1 Don't try and scam people.
#2 You will not make money from being an affiliate.
#3 Don't get lazy and copy and paste from other websites.
#4 Never hotlink to other people images.
#5 Go and get a real life, you may enjoy it if you do something worthy with your IT skills (even the minimal ones that you do have).
It is easy to track you down if you use copy and past from Psoriasis Club and if you try to hotlink to one of our images be careful, I can change them to anything I like and it will show on your website.
*Most people using our content and images are genuine and you can often find our text and images on other sites. There is nothing wrong with that, it's the scumbags that I will hunt down.
Psoriasis Club will never endorse any website/person/company that is scamming our members and readers. In fact we are very strict on endorsing other websites that is how we remain the only independent psoriasis website you can find.
*People be warned: There is no cure.
*Scammers be warned: I will track you down if you steal from us.
If anyone suspects our information is being used by scammers please report it to Myself, one of the Staff or use the "Contact Us" button bottom left of this page.
Thank you.
Fred.
