Hi Everyone,  Just to update you all.  I saw the Rheumatologist on Monday, 27th March and was told "Officially" - that I do have Osteoarthritis. And I was discharged there and then from the out patient Rheumatology Clinic and told there is nothing more they can do for me, as I am receiving excellent treatment from my GP (off the Tramadol and Lyrica - now wearing Butec Transdermal Patches and got liquid Morphine as standby for severe pain). However, the Stelara that I am using should help with any joint pain and if in the future my pain gets worse? = the Dermatologist can always referred me back to Rheumatologist. To date had only 3 injections of the Stelara and my Psoriasis is fading - I have what is referred to as "Staining" on my skin.

Cosentyx is better for joint pain than Stelara, so it could be worth you asking if you can switch.

Hi Will and thanks for the update ....it's a shame that they say there's nothing more they can do for the osteoarthritis....I hope the Stelara which is working well on the psoriasis offers relief from the joint pain, but as Fred has said Cosentyx is there if you can get them to prescribe it if the Stelara begins to fail

Hi jiml,  Have been on Cosentyx and it did nothing for me = Psoriasis and Joint pain. Also been on Humira and it made the Psoriasis erupt even worse.
I have used Stelara before (some 5 years ago) and had a fantastic effect of clearing the Psoriasis 99%. Just have to stay clear of picking up a cold, a chest infection whilst on it this time. Before could not shake off a Chest Infection even after 5 courses of Antibiotics. Thanks

Not sure there is much to be done for osteoarthritis. I've had it for a few years now and other than anti-inflammatory meds or going for a joint replacement, OH and the wonderful injections which have never helped me, they just don't seem to have much that helps. They can't undo the "wear and tear" on the joints (other than replacement which has it's own set of possible problems)

Hi Kat,
Just got to keep the limbs going, as when I stop that's when they ache. I've had a 3 month course of Prednisone and several Steriod Injections but nothing changed. Have tried NSAID's and suffered nasty side effects.
The Butec Transdermal Patches 15mcg do help a bit, but I use these for pain relief for Disc problems in my Spine. As I have said: Just got to keep myself mobile. Psoriasis is looking good - just got staining where the patches were, hopefully that will fade also. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Besides NSAIDS, there isn't much that helps OA. For damage outside the back, opids may help (don't advise this). There are some biologics in the works that may repair bone damage caused by OA and PsA (not RA). But those are years away.

Hi mataribot,
Have been on all the 'usual' pain relief and including Tramadol and Lyrica, I have even got liquid Morphine as a standby - which is really quick to work within 10 minutes and give relief. But, the Morphine sends up my Blood Sugars quite high - so have to be careful and only take it when in severe pain.
