Inverse Genital Psoriasis

Hey all – I have inverse genital psoriasis. I have tried everything under the sun on it. Tea Tree oil, coconut oil, hydrocortisone, steroid creams, etc. I’ve been getting the Xtracs laser treatment for at least four months and no major changes. I have huge flare ups and it even bleeds and crust over. My Xtracs technician thought it could be infected most recently.  It is very painful and embarrassing when you are trying to be intimate.  I’ve been using the condom idea also (filling it up with ointment). Any thoughts? Anyone else used the Xtracs laser and had any luck? Anybody have any luck with anything working???

First of all welcome to Psoriasisclub. A group of people with all kinds of psoriasis, so maybe there is someone who has an opinion on your problem.

I don't know anything about your laser treatment, unfortunately.
For me it seems that you are still on the track of ointments, and it appears to me that you are bound to take the next step to systemics or even to biologicals. This in order to attack the psoriasis from the inside instead of from the outside.

Hi Simon   to the club, I think that Caroline is right it's time to give up trying to treat it from the outside, I think a good dermatologist would probably get you on to the next level of treatment which is likely to be one of the oral systemic treatments that will start to tackle the root of the problem,

I would say be careful with the ointment in intimate areas particularly if they are steroid ointments, they can damage your skin badly

I think you should go to your dermatologist and discusse the next options, as on the current ones you do not seem to have any effect anymore.

There are more possible ways yes.
You have the diet approach, we have several threads on that, e.g. alan540 has a good tread on that How I Cured My Psoriasis By Diet.

There are the systemics, chemicals that adjust your immune system like, Ciclosprorine, Acetretin, Dimethylfumarate or Methotrexate (avoid this last one).

And there are the biologicals, that block specific adapters on cells, like humire, Stelara, Cosentyx. The biologicals are quite new, expensive, but work very fast.

On this forum you can read and discuss on these possibilities. Most members use some of these and have results on them.

Inverse psoriasis is hard to treat. Ointments are not going to get job done. Pills or injectable meds is the next step.

Yes I'm with the others you should be seeing a dermatologist, they will work with you to find something suitable.

My guess would be that they would try you on one of the oral treatments first, you can read more about them here: Oral Treatments For Psoriasis

Hello Simon and welcome! As others have said, sounds like you need to see a dermatologist and look for a treatment that works for you. Lots of info on this forum so it's a good place to learn about the different treatments.

From what I understand the laser is a consecrated narrow band UV that is designed to change the T cell's , I agree that you need to attack the P from the inside with oral or injections such as MTX or biological drugs , this has less damage than UV in sensitive areas and works better potentially.
