After 3 days I will start the diet and also add probiotics, including plain unsweetened kefir/yogurt.  Another thing I plan on adding is pao d'arco tea which is supposed to help heal the gut.  Stevia is supposed to be an okay sweetener that I plan on adding to the plain yogurt/kefir/tea, but stevia is not supposed to have maltodextrin, dextrose or sugar alcohols.  I was able to find a whole leaf brand that was suitable.  Then after a week on probiotics, I will add an antifungal supplement in liquid form that has black walnut, oregano oil and also add coconut oil to my diet. I will also make sure that I drink 72 oz of water during the day.

After reviewing my sources again, I found that I had the probiotics/antifungal regime backwards.  Antifungals should start first, then wait a week to add probiotics.  So my above comments should be amended with this in mind.  Again, antifungals first, then 1 week or so later and probiotics can be added.

I also read that you should heal the gut before going all out on the antifungals. In practice, I went on a anti-candida diet regime and also ate plenty of natural anti-fungals. I had a bit of herxheimer when on holiday in Turkey (pus filled blisters) but this passed after a couple of weeks. In reality you  know if you're going to fast and just ease of the anti-fungals a bit. A lot is common sense and listening to your body, which I'm sure you'll find out for yourself.

Hi Alan
congratulations on your great progress, thanks for posting the before and after pictures. I too have altered my eating habits and found that my skin has improved-for me some triggers are:

tomatoes
citrus fruits-and I love grapefruit Confused

gluten
cakes, biscuits and chocolate Confused

definitely alcohol-probably the most noticeable thing-when I go out and have the odd drink my skin always gets angry with me!

In the past I have tried a food diary and managed to find some of the above-I think it may be time to have another go and work on perhaps a few more things-your list has been very helpful-I may have to be a bit stricter on myself-but as you say-its worth it Big Grin

I am definitely going to have a good read of the information about helping my gut out and spend some time going through all the great information on this website. I only joined yesterday and have seen a plethora of threads that will boost my learning about Psoriasis. Diet has always peaked my interest as I have had a terrible one in the past-its only with being a tad more sensible as I've got older that I have associated the two. Good luck and keep us posted with your progress.
Karen

Hi Fred

I'm very well thanks. Busy but winding down for Christmas. Psoriasis, what's that? Ah, yes, I remember now. Nope, I don't suffer from that any more. Mission accomplished!

Have a great Christmas

Alan
