New to the game but not to P

Hi everyone,

Only recently came across this website and only signed up this morning.
 
I've had P for as long as I can remember, I'm 27 now, I've been on steroid creams, had UV and tried whites tar paste with varying degrees of success but invariably my P would come back stronger than ever after a while.

Recently (7 weeks ago) started on Fumaderm, starting to see some minor improvements now I think, although my moisturising regime is very good at present so could be down to this. I have experienced very little by the way of side effects I have to say, although now and again my bowels are a bit looser and I am a bit gassy! 

Currently on 4 * 120mg per day and due to visit my derm again on the 7th of June.

Glad to read about everybody's experience.

Any input/insights are more than welcome!!

We have a few members using Fumaderm and it's equivalent and I'm sure the DMF gang will be able to give you a lot of insights.

Love your part of the world, holidayed there 4 times 70s - 80s and went there for our honeymoon.

Welcome to Psoriasisclub. Hope you will have a nice time with us.

Let me introduce myself, I am one of the DMF-gang, though not on Fumaderm.

4x120 mg and you are seeing improvements, that looks good already.
Fumaderm, or lets call it DMF, is a slow burner. It takes a long time but is able to clear you from Psoriasis very well.
Yes your bowels are a bit looser and bubbly, but that will finally become less, but perhaps not go away fully.
On the forum a lot is written on DMF, search for "dimethylfumarate" and you will find a lot of info and personal experiences.

Taking DMF with a meal, yoghurt and combining it with drinking much water, makes it easier.
Do keep an eye on your blood counts, certainly the lymphocytes in this starting period with the medication. The lymph's probably will go down a bit, but it will come back after a while to an acceptable level with most people.

So take it easy, the result will come.

I'm a big fan of Coconut Oil as a moisturiser.

Never noticed anything make it worse apart from stress or damp weather.

I'm waiting for an appointment for the hospital...the doctors says it will take about 16 weeks.  I have had a very long gap (talking years here) but im hoping to try the fumaderm.

The folks on here are very knowledgeable and friendly.  So hello, and enjoy.

Glad to see you are being monitored monthly that is in my opinion is very important, I have my bloods monitored monthly as well and record on here the levels so I can see if there is a trend either up or down to enable me to adjust the dose if the lymphocyte count drops below the normal readings .

I have been on Fumaderm for over 4 years now and have been relatively clear most of that time.....
I'm on 4 X 120ml Fumaderm tablets a day, I went through the normal  build up procedure with the tablets up to 6 a day....then levelled off for a while before starting to reduce the dose to see how low I could go without the psoriasis starting to return.....
I got down to three tablets and psoriasis started to reappear .....so upped to four a day and have stuck on four

Reducing if the blood levels dropped too low and when they recover up the dose again

I wasn't on the forum when I started on Fumaderm and didn't used to record things so I'm guessing really when I say I think I had reached maximum dose before my skin fully cleared .....I remember it was slow .

But we are all different and some take a long while to clear and others Clear before reaching the maximum dose

As far as a moisturiser, I go with good quality virgin coconut oil ( Fred got me started on that and it's very good and easily absorbed without being messy

I haven't noticed any food or drink making a difference to my psoriasis, I eat and drink anything I like

I haven't found anything that seems to make my psoriasis worse, but I haven't really cut back on anything to see if it helps or not either.

I've never been on Fumaderm, but we have quite a few members with lots of experience with it and there is a lot of information to be found here.

DMF is already very old. Almost 60 years ago, dr Schweckendieck started to experiment with it in Germany on himself being a psoriasis sufferer, with good results. Fumaderm was later developed in Germany as a therapy and about 30 years ago enhanced in a different product in the Netherlands which has a slow release function.
In the mean time thousands of people have been treated with this product with very good results.

It depends on the person how fast it clears, some go quickly and some slow, also the nr of pills to stay clear differs very much, some only need one a day, some eight or even more (this is only possible with the Dutch version).

It appears that products with pyrodextrose and nuts, like peanuts, have a bad effect on your psoriasis. That is because those products in some way interfere with your energy cycle.
