I'm on year 14 of my 'journey' with psoriasis. It began on my scalp when I was 19 and has fairly randomly waxed and waned since then. I've had upwards of 60% body coverage at times but it typically hovers between 20-40%. Alcohol, stress, and the cold weather all exacerbate my condition. That being said I quit drinking, try to keep my stress levels low, and have managed to find a contractor to work for in the Florida Keys during the frigid Upstate NY winters.

I have tried a variety of topical ointments, but they did very little to help. After years of negative experiences with numerous dermatologists I decided to just live naturally and do the best I can. So I exercise and eat well and just do the best I can.

Any other questions feel free to ask. Wave

Hello jj_t   Welcome  to Psoriasis Club.

You may be interested in Natural Treatments For Psoriasis

You say ask questions: Have you only tried topical treatments? If so you may want to consider one of the Oral Treatments For Psoriasis as topicals rarely do much long term.

Regards.

Fred.

Hi jj welcome Welcome to the club I hope you enjoy your time with us, you say you've suffered on and off for 14 years, how's the psoriasis at the moment, it's good you are managing your stress as that is a known trigger for psoriasis ....but alcohol never affected my psoriasis so I carry on drinking moderately Whistle

As fred says there are lots of good treatments available if you are struggling to control the psoriasis, you really these days don't have to just "do the best you can" with my treatment I have been clear for 6 years and there are members here on various treatments that have got long term success controlling the beast

I look forward to reading more
Good luck
Jim

Welcome to the club, have a good look around as there is more information on P and PsA than anywhere else I know plus Fred does not allow adverts or so called magic cures sold by cons so any questions will be answered by people who have the same problems.
It's a bloody awful problem to have but in the last few years there has been some really good progress in the management of it , without Stelara , a bio , I would still be covered in the dam stuff so have a look and don't dismiss oral treatments .

Hi jj_t and a warm welcome to it club  Wave.
Even at 20% it is more than you need to tolerate. While I agree some dermatologists sound like they got their qualifications out of a breakfast cereal box it is time to bite the bullet look for a decent Dermy and investigate either orals or bios. I suppose over on your side of the pond it will also depend on your health insurance. Have a good rummage through the site and if you have any questions ask away most of the inmates are sane enough and don't bite.
Don't forget the off topic section, there is normally some reprobate propping the bar up.
