Hey guys,

I've been fumaderm for almost a year and a half now, and anyone who has read my member journals knows that I had pretty good success with it. I was on 6x120 mg a day. Within a few months, I was virtually clear. I was told to cut down to 5x120mg, due to concerns over my protein levels. The psoriasis patches started to come back, but I wasn't overly concerned at first since it was very minor. Then, after a couple months, I was told to increase my dosage again.

5 months later, and I've noticed that the psoriasis patches are increasing even more. I went from patches on the chest area and lower back, to my stomach, sides and arms. Even my scalp psoriasis has come back. I assumed that by going back up in my dosage that it would improve, not slowly start to come back.

Has this happened to anyone else on fumaderm? I'm starting to worry that the medication is no longer working as it should for me, but I'm hoping that I'm worrying over nothing.

Hi CC I can't say I have had that problem and it is a worry that it seems to be failing you and unfortunately there is no further up you can go with the dose, There has been a lot written about Fumaderm lately and it is noted that using calcipotriol used in conjunction Fumaderm will increase the efficacy ...it might be worth a try
I'll send you a PM
You could also try some folic acid as this may help keep your lymphocyte count up

Hi CC,

That is a very annoying sound you let us hear, I am very sad for you, that the effectiveness goes down.

From my doctor I know that there are cases that DMF starts to stop working. It is a very personal thing, medication, so you never know how it will or finally will not stay working.
With most people DMF stays working indefinitely.

If you really would want to test it out, then you could order a batch of Psorinovo from the Netherlands and up the dose. A (Dutch) forum friend of mine, does very well on 8 pills. Of course you should do this controlled and in accordance and cooperation with your dermatologist. As of course you will have to keep an eye your blood levels during upping.
As you then might up the dose, you also might go to a more intermittent use like Bill has described.

Hi,

Higher doses for me have been consistent, effective, have not lost efficacy, and seem to control my psa better. My lymphocyte count has stayed in a safe range also. But my approach is experimental, so it would not be prescribed to you. As I was scared to go on methotrexate I felt it much safer to make a drug guinea pig of myself. I have been very fortunate. What will folic acid and b vitamins do for my wbc count? Hopefully keep it in a safe range and allow me to experiment a bit more.
