Hello Group  .
I'm really  happy  I found  this  site .I recall commercials  on TV when i was  young  in the  sixties  " The  heartbreak of  psoriasis.
Well it  must  have  been  even  tougher  back then  because we  do  have  some  creams and  research as well  I'm finding  support  .
Briefly, in the  fall of  2015  i went on a  fishing  trip for a  couple  of  days  .I rented a  trailer at a  park  .I stayed  for 2  nights  .When  I went  home
I was scratching  bumps  on my ankles and the  back of  my  arms .I noticed some  bad insect  bites  .I believe the  ankles  were flea  bites and  the arms either  bed  bugs  or  spiders. I did  have  some  discomfort  on the  trip  but  I have  been in the  bush  and forests many  times.I believe the  protein from the  insect  bites  caused an immune  system  disruption also had damaged  sunburn skin on one  arm .
I couldn't  get  rid  of the  bumps  and  red dots  so  I went to the  Dr .He  said  I had  foliculites. He  gave  me  antibiotics  .No  good  .I went  back and pleaded  for  a dermatologist referral.
A well respected  Dr of dermatology after examination  stated that  I had  nummerous  eczema and  psoriasis.I was devastated  to learn there was no  cure .
I am 67  and haven't  had a  pimple  since I was 15. I didn't  know  what  hit  me  . It  is now  4  months  later  and  am  learning  to cope  and  I'm getting better  at  controlling the outbreaks  .What  seems  to work and  what  isn't .I'm very grateful to have  found this  site  and to learn and share  alike  .
thank you  I value  your  opinions
Reggie  from Toronto Canada

Hi Reggie and a warm  Welcome to the club we are a small group of psoriasis sufferers who are happy to share our experience of this disease, of what we find works and what doesn't for us. You will find the site is packed full of information regarding treatments whether it's prescribed or natural treatment. You will also notice that the site is free from advertising or any external pressure. So feel secure in the knowledge that the site is genuine with just genuine people exchanging views

You sound as though you have had a difficult time with the disease although quite new to it. Enjoy finding your way through the various boards on the site and just shout if you get stuck

You are more than welcome to join in any of the threads that are running and join us if you feel like a change in the off topic section where things are more light hearted  Thumb

Hello Reggie  Welcome to Psoriasis Club

Yes things are a lot better now than they have ever been for people with psoriasis, and there is a lot more in the pipeline.

At least you have accepted there is no cure. It's not what any of us want to hear, but it will save you a lot of money from the hundreds of scams out there. And by accepting it you can now get on with getting it under control. Psoriasis is about managing it and it can take time, but as you are with a dermatologist you are better suited to find something that works for you.

Good luck on your journey, and there is always someone here to lean on or share if you want.

Regards.

Fred.

Hi Reggie

Just a quick hello and  Welcome
I've not been a 'member' of the Psoriasis Club for long but I already feel at home. There is a mine of information available for you to peruse but if you cannot readily find it, please ask. There will always be somebody available eventually to point you in the right direction or offer advice based on their own experiences.
It looks like we have both had the same start to the joy of having Psoriasis, I'm pretty sure mine kicked off from an insect bite as well

Join us for a natter or lighten your day with some humour in the Off Topic section. I Look forward to hearing from you Thumb
