@madbear
Glad you will have your tablets tomorrow they should be the fumaderm initial which are 30 mg and you should start on one a day
Always take with a meal and plenty of fluid which should minimise the stomach cramps, which you probably will get, but they should be short lived
If you have any questions just shout and someone will try to help
Good luck and don't worry there should be no nasty surprises  Thumb

Jim !! We didn't tell MaDbEaR (what a strange keyboard she has) about the (hot) flushes. !!
O o, that can be a surprise. Will you tell her or shall I?

Hi MaDbear
Welcome to our club!

I have had P for more years than I care to count let alone remember but have always felt alone with it; in fact such was my ignorance I didn't realise that it was something other people had - just me!

Earlier this year I discovered this wonderful club! I have never looked back. Everyone tries to help, everyone has their tale to tell on whatever subject and above all you feel supported in a way that someone who hasn't got it cannot do, no matter how hard they try. Its amazing! I wish I had found them all before Heart

So enjoy your time with us. As others have said hit us with questions and someone will know the answer (or a man / woman that does know!)

Good luck with your meds.

I've had P since I was 15, and I've just turned 30. I'm currently on ciclosporin but my dose is being lowered and I'm being switched on to fumaderm after being told by my dentist that I needed to stop the ciclo. I've been on methotrexate, but that turned me into a grumpy lazy sod, and being a single mum I couldn't carry on like that! I've had 3 lots of light treatment, had a couple of years clear after my first lot but second and third attempts just resulted in quite bad burns so no more of that. I try and avoid steroid creams as I had severe eczema as a kid so went through a lot of them and as a result I seem to have become resistant to them.

My son is great and helps me put my hydromol on if I've had a bad skin day. He has seen me suffer so much with my skin and I'm looking forward to the day my legs are clear so I can take him swimming. I haven't been swimming with him for 5 years, he is only 5 1/2!!
My skin is under control at the minute, but I am feeling a bit apprehensive about going onto fumaderm. Ciclo worked for me in the beginning, then I had a "controlled flare" (only the bits that were already there got worse and one or two bits came back) over winter so the derm upped my dose and I was seeing results less than a week after going up to 175mg then my dentist advised that my gums were getting really bad and I should come off them. I'm  hoping that my tablets turn up soon so that I can start them before I worry too much more and cause a stress flare up!!

Hello and very happy to meet you ,  Welcome
I can relate to your issues. If you can get to a salt water hot tub or the beach you can take your son swimming.

Also soft water in your home using salt will help with bathing and moisturize after each quick shower using warm water. I also use glycerin soap & sunshine . Ask your derm about excimer laser treatments for P.

All of the above and occlusion has worked for my P. For years. Vit-3 and fish oil coconut oil on lesions with occlusion. Sometime steroids is used very sparingly .

I have scars all over my body there like white freckles everywhere. There is only management of this autoimmune disease. I hope some suggestions on this forum helps you. There are many methods used by members on this forum to evaluate and find what works for you.
Good Luck.

My son and my dog are my Universe! I've had Storm (the dog) for ten years this October and Logan (my son) turns 6 in September (they are both named after x-men characters). If it wasn't for this mad pair giving me a reason to live - through some immensely tough times (non P related) I wouldn't be here to write this now! We also have two kittens, Luna (aka Looney) and Shadow (aka stinkycat).
