Glycerine is in the skin layers. I use it as a moisturizer especially in winter. My Paloplanter and on hands and feet seem to always be seasonal.i STAY AWAY FROM WATER THAT IS NOT FILTERED. Wash with glycerine soap no itch after bath then moisturize.

I use it in many of my home made mixtures. Non alcohol watch hazel AND GLYCERINE.

SINCE using these my hands and feet P. R in remission for 4 years now. Also a spa with paraffin wax . I use at night night then add glycerine and occlusion over night. Really gets down thru the deep layers of my P. Skin.

JUST having to try DEMARDS To treat PSA. Were also talking about a new bio...

The DEMARDS really help the pain but make me too sick. I also have severe OA 2 THR. My hips r always cold . I'm probably worth more with all that metal in my hips and shoulders.

Some days during this time of year I really need the Tin Man's oil can...

So it's always trial and error. Some of us have different outcomes with meds than others.

As most of us p.with know it can be so tricky. Does anyone use a dehumidifier in damp areas of the country for PSA.?
I've read it helps with cold weather to control the moisture in the air in homes.

Yes they can help, but make sure you get one that you can regulate as it's not good to remove to much moisture.

We have just moved into a very old stone house that had been empty of over ten years, our dehumidifier was pulling out one container of water every night for around 4 weeks.
I've now installed a VMC (Ventilation Mécanique Contrôlée) This image explains what it does.

Since installing it we have noticed a huge difference in the air quality and comfort, we also no longer have moisture on the windows. Smile

Just ordered a dehumidifier . I was in for a rheumy check and he definitely agreed that dampness is a issue . Can cause flairs and exacerbate PSA. Taking extra vit-D and sunshine as much as it shows up this winter.

I'm still wondering if anyone tried witch hazel mixed with glycerine for plaque P. ?

Appreciate any feedback.

Wishing everyone a healthy winter season with zero flairs. Big Grin

I have a bit of a flare up also.
I hope it is because of the dampness. It breaks through the medication. I think I will do some extra Vit D also.

I was reading up on natural resources and products that were safe to clear psoriasis. Some ingredients I have used since childhood. Below is a QUOTE from the article, with very good information why these natural ingredients work for P.

Begin QUOTE :
[[A ginger extract may be able to stop psoriasis flares before they even start.
A recent study, discovered that a natural molecule known as methoxyluteolin can block a type of immune cell called mast cells from launching an inflammatory response.
Mast cells are the “universal alarm cell” that starts the inflammatory cascade leading to psoriasis a researcher at Tufts University who received a $200,000 Grant in 2013 and a co-author of the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology study. Mast cells can be triggered by infection, allergens, environmental factors like pollution, or even emotional stress. Once this is set into motion a series of inflammatory reactions, including the activation of immune cells and the release of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), a pro-inflammatory protein, or cytokine involved in psoriatic disease.
Not only are mast cells the source for most TNF-alpha in the body, it also is the only kind of cell that stores ready-made TNF-alpha that can be released in seconds....amazing!
In the study another natural molecule called luteolin, found in chamomile and artichokes, that could block mast cells. Then they discovered that methoxyluteolin, a different version of luteolin found in Thai black ginger, was an even more potent mast cell blocker.
Through a series of experiments, they found that both luteolin and methoxyluteolin inhibited the ability of mast cells to start inflammation, and could even block inflammation when given before a trigger sets mast cells into action, as reported in the study.
This could lead to a new topical treatment absorbed by the skin. The article explained that methoxyluteolin and luteolin can both be found in food sources, it is impossible to eat enough to get a therapeutic effect. So a topical containing purified methoxyluteolin extract would make sence.
It was almost a no-brainer to make a skin lotion with methoxyluteolin, since the study showed that this can stop inflammation before it starts.
A small group of people with psoriasis and other skin disorders have already tried the lotion, which also contains aloe vera, olive fruit extract, honey and oregano oil.
The product has not yet undergone clinical trials, But will start trials soon. Many of us with Psoriasis have used many of the above ingredients for skin moisturizer and calm psoriasis for years. I have made many home made creams also using bees wax, glycerin, aloe and other ingredients mentioned. This was way before all the new products on the market of today. ]] END QUOTE.
