Lets take cold and flu remedies for example because the stats for that is more readily available in 2009 it was predicted that in the UK alone we would spend £521 million on over the counter remedies while in the US it was $2.5 billion if there's that much money just in those 2 countries imagine the world profit. Why peddle a cure where you could only make a fraction of that total profit and your shareholders lose out when you can keep your shareholder's happy and make a tidy profit.

I'm a firm believer that somewhere in a lab there are cures for cancer, flu, common cold but while there is a lot of money to be made on topical creams etc in the case of P until something changes I sadly cant see them letting us have it.

Sorry for being a bit negative and heading into Tin Foil hat territory. But i believe that until we as a race move forward and leave financial gain behind and start working toward the betterment of mankind as a whole, these cure's wont be in general circulation.

I am sorry but I disagree because I think that the profit part of the equation is the driving force to continue to move forward and if that was not there you would get the same stale economy that used to prevail in the eastern bloc with very little in the way of innovation. I don't think that the cures are in a lab somewhere as it would need cooperation between all the rival companies involved to keep their mouths shut and that would not happen . There will never be a situation that will leave financial gain behind as the if there was it would not work as the majority of people are generally just for themselves and would look after their own life .

I think there are some treatments in development that could work, but like any medication they have to go through all the beaurocracy before they are made available.

Hi and welcome to the forum, I agree there are some exciting developments going on and many new innovative drugs being tried and with stem cell research who knows what the future holds but I suspect if not a cure it will certainly be more easily controlled

So my belief is the future looks bright for us long suffering psoriasis patients

I hope you enjoy your time on the forum we are a group of psoriasis sufferers who are happy to swap ideas on what works for us and the site is kept right up to date on the latest research.

We also have an active off topic section if you dare to venture in  Big Grin but we are all very friendly and happy to welcome newcomers

It's good to see you joining in and it is very welcome. But it would be nice for you and seen by more members if you started a thread in Introductions it's not compulsory but it might make you feel more at home.. And would be noticed more by other members who are then more likely to welcome you on board

I believe that one day there will be a cure for most things if not everything. As we develope our understanding of biology etc we are more adept at treating illnesses. Unfortunately Psoriasis is nowhere near the top of the priority list.

in the great scheme of things it is relatively low on the risk reward side. If you can develope a drug that saves lives, a lot of lives, for heart disease etc you will make money and it is all about profits and share holders.

When we know how to develope drugs better and faster or to engineer and manipulate genetics most illnesses will be relatively easy to treat.

Lot's of people with P so lots of money to be made with a cure which I think will ride on the back of a PSA cure / for crohns desease or something similar.

As soon as the human genome researchers get around to identifying the errant gene, a repair/replacement will become the cure.

But will they want us to have it? I'm sure the big pharma companies spending millions on new treatments wouldn't be happy. Confused
