As for the medical profession ,I have very little faith in the vast majority of them and take everything that they say with a large pinch of salt. This comes from personal experience and they will always stick together to protect themselves ,the NHS is not a national organisation and a large part of it is run as personal little empires .

Agreed David and if there was a cure it would be in the giant pharmaceutical companies interests not to release it because as things are psoriasis is a cash cow that just keeps giving ( profit)

Peoples thoughts on a cure will vary, but I stated in the first post.

(I'm talking cure as in it's gone from the whole world and will never come back as that is a cure to me)

So that's how I define it.

Do you actually get cured of Mumps or does it just go away, a bit like a cold they go but we get another.

Like I say Peoples thoughts will vary on what a cure is.

#1 Relieve (a person or animal) of the symptoms of a disease or condition: he was cured of the disease.

#2 Eliminate (a disease or condition) with medical treatment: this technology could be used to cure diabetes.

#3 Solve (a problem): a bid to trace and cure the gearbox problems.

#4 Preserve (meat, fish, tobacco, or an animal skin) by salting, drying, or smoking: (as adjective, in combination -cured) home-cured ham.

#5 Harden (rubber, plastic, concrete, etc.) after manufacture by a chemical process such as vulcanization: the early synthetic rubbers were much more difficult to cure than natural rubber.

For me a cure is "that's it it's gone finished", to some a cure is "it's gone but it can come back again".

Interesting topic. Personally, I think there will be a 'cure', in the sense that they will come up with a treatment that will not just manage and keep psoriasis at bay, but will 'cure' a patient of it.

Do I think there will be a global eradication of psoriasis? Possibly not. Not anytime soon, at least. There is still so little known about it right now.

I do think medicine constantly evolves and new discoveries are found every day. There is no reason to think that there won't be some breakthrough that will pave the way for a cure.

Maybe I'm just being overly optimistic Smile

No I don't think its over optimistic , let's hope they do find a breakthrough, there is a lot of research going on and we must live in hope .... That one day they will be able to give us a tablet and it will go away forever. Ooh dream on Jim

I really hope you are right I can't see any reason why there won't be one someday.... But do the pharmaceutical companies want a cure isn't it more profitable to keep feeding us expensive medication to just control it Confused

I was thinking it won't be the pharmaceutical companies it'll be the gene and stem cell researchers who find out perhaps how to manipulate the dna/rna or something..

I would love for there to be a 100% cure, I think there already is one. But the problem is pharmaceutical companies can make more money treating the symptoms than they ever would by providing a cure.

Lets take cold and flu remedies for example because the stats for that is more readily available in 2009 it was predicted that in the UK alone we would spend £521 million on over the counter remedies while in the US it was $2.5 billion if there's that much money just in those 2 countries imagine the world profit. Why peddle a cure where you could only make a fraction of that total profit and your shareholders lose out when you can keep your shareholder's happy and make a tidy profit.

I'm a firm believer that somewhere in a lab there are cures for cancer, flu, common cold but while there is a lot of money to be made on topical creams etc in the case of P until something changes I sadly cant see them letting us have it.

Sorry for being a bit negative and heading into Tin Foil hat territory. But i believe that until we as a race move forward and leave financial gain behind and start working toward the betterment of mankind as a whole, these cure's wont be in general circulation.
